comedy moment at the dealers

Featured Replies

Rather off the main topic, but since the point is being continued,

If i said or really meant there were none, it would be daft because obviously even here, there are some of the operating theatres open on Thursdays & Fridays & there are NHS Lists.

& emergency weekend surgery goes on, it was a less than fully serious comment, but fully based of the factual situation in this area, which is the only area i can really comment on..

I was really being flippant about the senior surgeons and their long weekend habits.

I think i have a little idea what goes on here tho, Public & Private Health Care & where the same practitioners are doing both.

I think i know quite enough about surgery, operations, amputation ,re-amputation, i have undergone enough,

& thats with the senior surgeons now that were starting out as Junior House Doctors and Registers when i first had my biggest accident so near into 4 decades of meeting & getting to know them...

Actually to think about it, i started having accidents & surgery before i started with cars.

Sounds like you've been through a lot George and those surgeons have done a good job keeping you with us.

Salt of the Earth, Wonderful people all of them,

always there with spare parts or ready for a patch up job. Even if you need to get them out of bed.

They deserve all the time off they want.

Just like Skoda Parts Desk staff really.

Well done, neatly returning the side-track back to the original route.

Now regarding my posting about nicking the screws from a rivals desk, I wouldn't want my orthopaedic surgeon nicking parts off a rivals desk, it might be a gynecologist, and then old John might end up Joanna.

I've assumed the position and braced myself..........

Just look at the situation I find myself in due to 3 mudflap screws going AWOL.

Hate to disagree with most on here, but the OP should have been given the decency of a polite response. Even if the salesman couldn't help, he should have done all he could to have offered help. So many seem to have a chip on their shoulder as if parts is beneath them.

I Work in customer service environment, customers pay our wages. Not hard to see who is important.

And yes, i know it's just a mudflap.

Just take one screw off each of the remaining mudflaps??

It will see you through till parts re open!!!!

I do understand this, it's the same in my Country too but still is a paradox. It's like calling for an ambulance which have a driver but no paramedics. Useless and paradox.

A dealership for me as a customer is nothing but a unit. If they need more personel let hire some (and hit unemployment too) or else let close the unit at the same time.

A simple case of supply and demand.

The simple fact is the majority of parts business is conducted during the week. The demand mainly coming from a dealers workshop, local trade custom (which may not always be the case with VAG dealers thanks to TPS) a weekend the demand drops to the point its not viable paying your parts staff to sit around and do nothing.

Even in commercials vehicles where is important to operators to keep vehicles going to adviod lost earning the demand for parts is next nothing, we most just serve our workshops.

Infact even commercial vehicle sales shut at 12pm sat as most deals are done in week. As most of people buying commercial vehilces do deals whistlt at work during the working week.

Now the car market is different as most people only really get a chance to visit a dealer at weekend hence why car sales often open weekends as the demand for it make its worth while to stay open.

Hate to disagree with most on here, but the OP should have been given the decency of a polite response. Even if the salesman couldn't help, he should have done all he could to have offered help. So many seem to have a chip on their shoulder as if parts is beneath them.

Absolutely correct...Just a polite response to the customer whould have been sufficient

A polite response is all that's needed really. Personally I never go into any shop anywhere near closing time as I know people want to go home unless it's really urgent (rarely). It's not life or death so I'd have waited.

RE, Doctors & Hospitals.,

Our NHS Consultants & Surgeons need days off on Thursdays & Fridays to go Golfing,

or

to Use the National Health Trust Operating Theatres for Private Health Care Operations.

Because there are no NHS surgeons operating on Thursdays & Fridays in NHS theatres..

'maybe thats just an Urban Myth', but not in this area.

Nice one George where do you live? as a theatre tech who is married to a consultant I can asure you that what you say above is a load of BS. Stop talking crap about stuff you know nothing about !! Stick to cars.

My wife used to work in the hospital as an out patients receptionist, and it was a regular occurrence that the consultant would cancel all of his appointments for the afternoon so he could go play golf !!

No BS there !

Debatable ;)

In my experience, when you enter a dealership, the first person to greet you is a salesman, not a parts adviser. So, you tell the salesman what you're after and they normally have the decency to direct you straight away to the most suitable person, if they can't handle your query. The only idiot in this case is the salesman who apparently did not have the intellectual capacityto understand that the original poster was after the parts that were missing. Regardless of what time it was, he acted like a pr!ck when he responded "So how can i help you?".

I think the dealer's in Fife (apologies if incorrect) - you'd struggle to meet anyone with any sort of intellectual capacity there :) .
