Small issue with my new vRS

Featured Replies

I am really paranoid about it getting damaged. For example I saw a street sweeper cleaning the carpark outside tonight and it looked as if it was almost touching the front bumper of my car so once it had dissapeared I had to go and check that it hadn't scraped along my front bumper.

Am I the only one who is this paranoid?

No your just taking care of YOUR items :)

I'm mega paranoid, don't worry ;)

Not at all. There's too many sh1ts out there who don't give a monkeys about their own cars let alone yours, but then again they ain't got a vRS!

I'm 1 of those sad sods who parks at the far end of a car park in clear space only to find some tw*t has parked next to me when I return dispite there being millions (slight exageration) of other 'kin parking spaces available closer to the shop. I then make sure they haven't marked my pride and joy too before I drive off with 1 foot in the grave..... :whew:

Shoud we start a paranoid owners club?

I do the all the things mentioned here

I do the exact same when I park in car parks (including checking the doors) as I don't trust anybody near my car. My last car got 3 dings in carparks in 2.5 years, one of them was so bad you could see it 10 metres away from the car.

emoticon-0148-yes.gif for the paranoid owners club. lol

I'll be joining this club as well, the wife and I do all of the above.

I think any large purchase is going give you paranoia. I parked at the supermarket the other day, I always park out of the main areas and still 2 nuggets decide to park next to me when there is plenty of space

I'd best have a lifetime membership of this club as well. I'd love to be one of those people that see things as "just a car" but I take a lot of pride in my purchases and want them to stay in pristine condition, not to get dinged by someone that has no care for anyone else's property.

I get so paranoid I have considered selling it for a lesser car just so I don't have to worry about such things. The day I get back to my space at the end of a car park away from the rest of the civilised world and find a car park dent I will want CSI out.

+1

I park in the multi storey car park whenever at the town centre, normally 9th or 10th floor as there pretty much deserted most of the time.

Normal behaviour if you take pride in your cars

I'm like this but I used to be worse with past cars to the point I would never park them anywhere hence hardly drove them and instead used our other car which made having them largely pointless as I only ended up driving it to work and back!

The only thing that is wrong, is you waited for the cleaner to dissappear before checking...

Me paranoid? Yup...

The street sweeper was still in sight but i would have had to run after him to confront him about any damage caused. I didn't want to make it obvious to the street sweeper driver that I didn't trust his driving so much that I had to check that he hadn't damaged my car. I do the same in car parks if someone decides to park next to me even tho there is about 40 spaces between my car and the next one.

Glad to see that it is not just me aswell.

I had my Fabia vRS for over 6 years before it got its first dink. Only it wasn't just a dink, it was a huge gouge in the driver's door from an eejit in a car park who must have reversed out of their space at full lock. Needless to say the bugger just drove off... No cameras in the car park of course! About 3 months after that was fixed I had a motorbike run into the back of me & ride off, who subsequently refused all knowledge when I tried to claim on the insurance, despite me having his reg number and full description. Then a holiday to France in the summer saw two big door-shaped chips & dents taken out of the paintwork in two different car parks...

Needless to say, when I pick up my new Octavia vRS today, I'll be back to my former paranoid self!

When I go shopping at our local Tesco superstore I just take up two spaces and the same at the small Iceland car park, I don't care who complains but I am not taking any chances especially when you have spent a small fortune on your car.

Get a child and use parent and child spaces. That's what I did.

same here, i tend to park away from everyone or failing that look for an end of row or just take up 2 spaces ;)

I always park at the very furthest point away from any other cars.

However, some prat always seems to park next to me, despite there being dozens of spaces around me!

Luckily, where I work there are several isolated parallel parking spots. Nobody can park next to, in front, or behind me. I get to work early just to get one of the spaces!

Me too - but recently I have had major issues with blue badge holders taking up all the parent and child spaces at my local Morrisons - despite tere being plenty of blue badge bays available! Asked one old codger why he hadn't bothered to use his allocated price lodge bay the other week and he said that 'people like me' (whatever that means) were 'always barking in the disabled bays' so he now 'just parks wherever he wants'

Don't know why all the other people's excuses are......

Haha! Me too!
