  • Enjoyed today, will give myself a push to get on track next time. I should of hopefully managed to get a picture of everyone. First time shooting any moving vehicles so could do with some improvemen

  • Why do we all do these events ? For the most part it's the chance to get together with other like minded Skoda fans. And also the chance to explore the speed thrill and handling of your chosen ride. W

I thought there'd be more Mk1 Fabia's on track.

Give them chance.

Great to see a Superb coming though. :)

A little flurry of activity at the moment :D Good to see 4 months before the event

This will be a great day out! What are the run offs like at Castle Combe?

Have any of you guys purchased track day insurance and if you have, who would you recommend?

I usually just try to avoid crashing. :)

The good thing about the Briskoda session is the drivers are sensible and the cars are generally similar speeds.

I did three session last year in Sept and the Brisky session was far, far calmer than the other ones that had a few people racing.

I will probably get insurance for the Oulton Park day and put my steady head on for CC

run-offs are OK for the chicanes, as you can go straight on, on tarmac, if you outbrake yourself. Same cannot be said for camp corner (which despite the name I think is the 2nd most fearsome corner on the circuit) which only has a bit of grass then some tough barrier. ;) Generally, if you go off on the inside of the circuit, there is a lot of run-off. Big field :D

I will put a lump of wood under the accelerator!

It is the wifes car and she will be there, so best behaviour. I didn't rev it over 3 dear, honest

It's the corner I could never get right. Always braked too early then didn't get the right line. This is why we were delayed last time. I'd rather brake too early than do this

Don't scare them off Martyn! :D

The guy was driving like a total berk, on the non-Briskoda session of course. :)

There are two that look a bit easier than they are.

Camp and Quarry, both have barriers on the outside.

Go a little easy here and you'll be fine.

Oh, and he was driving a FIAT. :bandit:

I'm still trying to find a racing game that has it including the chicanes just to practice the lines a bit more. Only an old copy of rfactor so far

Give them chance.

I'm impatient. :D

There'll be a mk1 Fabia and octy vrs soon ;)

 I must say the extreme slow motion gets the message across!

Do superSkoda do a rubber ring that goes around the Fabia?

I am off to see my veteran HSCC man for some advice and I will have had a few hours around Oulton so I should know what the Fabia can do, NOT understeer like that FIAT, I wonder if he had good tyres on..... No this isn't s tyre thread, sorry :whew:

Just take it easy and you'll be fine.

I've done combe several times in the fabia, but April will be my first in the vRoomster. I'm under no illusion that it'll be anywhere near as fast, or stop as quickly as some cars and with that in mind I'll be taking it steady.

To echo what others have said, show camp and quarry the respect they deserve. Remember quarry arrives pretty quickly after the summit of Avon rise, (one of the fastest parts of the circuit, 5th gear in the fabia) one or two 'OMG tail end really light' moments in the fabia there ;)

Don't let that vid bother you mate. He did 4th gear flat out into that bend as somebody had told him it'd be fine...had a young girl in the passenger seat too! Luckily both were safe. He's just a muppet.
