Castle Combe Spring Acton Day 2013! 27/04/13! Tracktime & Clubstand

Featured Replies

I have been thinking about the track day I will be doing at Oulton on the 9th, as it is an all day thing would it be advisable to change the brake pads? I was thinking yellow stuff? But EBC don't seem to do a yellow pad for the Fabia mk ii, so what would you do? Muller the pads that are in from the factory or swap them for something else?

  • Enjoyed today, will give myself a push to get on track next time. I should of hopefully managed to get a picture of everyone. First time shooting any moving vehicles so could do with some improvemen

  • Why do we all do these events ? For the most part it's the chance to get together with other like minded Skoda fans. And also the chance to explore the speed thrill and handling of your chosen ride. W

The End

not quite the end, if you go and look for Ferodo or Yellow Stuff etc they are not listed for the MK 2 Fabia VRS somebody recommended Pagid Blue but at £234 I will give them a miss

So after speaking with Demon Tweeks, Larkspeed, EBC direct and many other outlets for performance pads it would seem nobody has made a version for the MK 2 Fabia VRS.

I suppose I could take a standard set and change them on the day if they do get mullered?

O/T I know, but what brake set up (size) does the Fabia II vRS run in stock guise?

I have upgraded my Roomster (Fabia II upto the B pillar ;)) to 312's from a Mk1 Octy/Leon/S3 etc. as it was running VAG 288mm set up before.

It is currently a bog standard car as it left the dealer, I think it is running Girling brakes and I have a request in with EBC and K300 in Manchester to try and sort me some pads out, I have even looked for the Yeti and only standard pads can be found.

I will have to buy a brick and some rope

For a 15 minute session, stock pads should be fine. It would be a bit silly to push it to the point of melting them in that short a time.

I am worried about the all day open pit lane track day I have booked for the 9th Feb, it is the full circuit at Oulton and I am guessing the brakes will take a beating.

Found some pads, Thanks to Bob at EBC for getting back to me, if anybody else is interested the pads are yellow stuff and cost £75 at lark speed. Part number is DP41479R fronts and DP414997R rears.

I will be nipping in to Leeds tomorrow as I am up that way with work,

Yes,a full day will beat a set up, but I have done a full day on my Brembos and not rarely witnessed any real extra wear in the pads. Suppose thats the benefit of bigger discs / larger surface pad area / 4 pistons is you get the same braking power from less stress to the braking system. :)

If your names not down, you're not coming in! ;)

And if your car is tuned, you need a good excuse for not having 15 minutes of brisk driving... :D

Another for track. :) I might decide to cap numbers @ 28 to ensure all Skoda, so in theory that means only 11 spaces left. Not bad considering the event is 3 months away. Much more peace of mind for me!

Fair point.

Any trackers care to disclose their 'level of tune'?, just so I know what the mother-in-law and I will be up against :giggle:

Only Stage 1 Shark remap here. :)

Sweet, your car would be a good 'yardstick' (ish) then. Ideally a standard Fabia vRS to compare the vRoomster to.

Aren't you also running a stage one or did i dream that?? I know it's different cars, etc but i'd imagine yours would still shift.

Stage 1 yes, but I started out with 105bhp not 130 ;) that coupled with 'only' a 5 speed box

Butt Dyno says its as quick as my Fabia was in standard guise if a little lower on the torque 'pull'

Fair enough then.

I was at Combe in September, running on 'normal' power, so would have been a good marker for you then. I'd say though, even with the remap, i'll still be a marker for you as i won't be pushing the car to her limits. :)

Fair enough then.

Me too, in a Fabia, running 200+ :'(
