Police spec?

Featured Replies

Seen a few unmarked vrs's round here recently (hampshire) all seem pretty standard to me pretty sure they dont even have the 18 inch wheels fitted.

When i worked on the bikes we supplied a dozen bikes to the met police, as with the cars there totally stock apart from (in the case of the bikes) up rated suspension because of the extra weight there carrying, and a wiring harness that can handle alittle more load.

As said above the police use the warrenty as much as anybody else... so they dont feck about with them.

  • Judging by how fast these cars go over speed humps on these police programmes on the TV I'd hope they at least fit the sump guard off the Scout

  • Had the same until my private plate went on. Its great on the motorway as lane hoggers tend to move over :-P

  • when is going to sink in to some people. How many police offficers on here saying the cars are not tuned for it to sink in,

will these be petrol or diesel? :giggle:

Normal response (the Panda cars) will be the 1.9 (now 1.6) diesels. The vRS will undoubtedly be the petrol versions as they will be used by traffic - I know ours are.

Slightly off topic, but in a similar ilk. I spied this yesterday at the pumps...

I'm imagining it roams the South East of Kent, as I was Canterbury way.

Other than the obvious mods, of rear facing number plate recognition, and the blues in the back window.

Anyone know if they even bother tuning an already quick car?

people must think the traffic division are rolling in money. I expect there are loads of clauses which allow them to get these cars so cheap aswell

We have gone from 3 litre BMW's to 2.4 litre Volvo's and now these are being replaced by 2 litre (twin turbo) BMW's.

Do you think we have money to spend on tweaks when we can barely afford to fuel them?

Erm?

They are made up with a few different parts, such as xc90 brakes, beefed up suspension to handle all the extra weight of the armed response gear and a remap to give a little more power.

As above. Clearly some are but most aren't.

Will almost certainly all be diesel. Huge mileage, cheaper to fuel.

In London they are petrol.

My unit went from 530d to 525d to save a few £££££ and now have gone to X5 due to the ability to carry all our kit (weight limits). We need the warranty so no mods at all.
