  • Judging by how fast these cars go over speed humps on these police programmes on the TV I'd hope they at least fit the sump guard off the Scout

  • Had the same until my private plate went on. Its great on the motorway as lane hoggers tend to move over :-P

  • when is going to sink in to some people. How many police offficers on here saying the cars are not tuned for it to sink in,

I used to work for a Skoda main dealer that had the service contract for the local squad cars and undercover units - standard spec when it comes to the engine etc, usually had a few factory extras though but nothing you cannot spec...apart from the lights etc!

Was told by a dealer that the factory cars are lowered and sent to a tuning place in Bedfordshire. He had one in his yard before the aforementioned mods which looked same as stock.

interesting.....

ECU tweaking maybe?>

Volvo have a separate police spec in which they use tougher suspension and add under body protection and leave more space inside the vehicle for the optional equipment. There is plenty of info on Google if you look around. No idea about Skoda, they are quite a popular choice though in VRS and non VRS formats.

I was told by a supplier that a unnamed police force located near by running Octavia's have front and rear arb's fitted (aftermarket).

For the record Met police have just taken some Skoda Octavia vRS estates. Can been seen in the Feltham, hanworth and Hounslow areas.

Looks great!

They have and they are (apart from the additional wiring) standard spec with a diesel engine and a DSG box. There are no modifications at all. They are to replace the BMW 325D saloons. Apparently in these times of austerity it doesn't look good for the police to be driving around in 'premium' cars hence the switch although I reckon buying 80+ at the end of the build life would lead to a big discount.

Mods I posted about was not the MET force. More up north area not far from a well know german suspension uk head office.

Saw the first one being driven rather rapidly in feltham yesterday.

Very pleased to see Skoda's being used. Wonder if they are liked more than the 335 diesel saloons they had?

Doubt they will be liked more than the 335d that thing is a weapon!!, not traffic cars in Scotland are modified engine wise or suspension.

When I had to get new springs for my old vRS a lot of the places that a rang up didn't stock them and there was a tag on their systems against the springs stating they were police spec. What ever that means !!!

Some manufacturers (ie Ford & Vauxhall) do police spec vehicles - but this just means that they don't actually ship from the factory with radios etc (Vx used to have a raised pod on the roof for the bar lights as well on Astra & Vectra's). The mechanicals are not any different from standard showroom cars.

The Octavia's that we have are standard showroom spec cars with calibrated speedo's - and these are done after delivery of the vehicle.

The unmarked vRS police cars round here don't look lowered...

A good friend of mine works for Armed response I've asked this question a few times

Pretty sure all they have on them is updated springs(prob just the eibach dealer option) and they fit ebc brake pads no engine mods.

I thought there was a thread on here a few months ago that gave the list of cars the police can now purchase? And I'm certain that Skoda was no longer included?

VW certainly was, but not Skoda.

Mike

I expect Honda wasnt on the list but wiltshire police in Swindon use them. There are a few exceptions to the general consensus of what they car and cant buy

The Leicester area cars are definitely lower than standard vRS. I'd like to know what the set up is, looks good!

We repair some of notts police dog cars and unmarked cars and they are totaly standard apart from there lights and radio equipment.

Plus an extra 10psi in the tyres?

I would agree with you, but when I had a chat to the nice police man after being stopped (random check) we got chatting about the 335. He didn't ovely like it, which was a shame as its in my list of cars to have.

Eibach items are fitted to some forces cars.

The only difference will be all the extra equipment that they are carrying in the boot and rest of the car - trust me, the police are not interested in lowering their cars, a lowered car only makes them less practical in everyday use.

i wouldn't be suprised if they were modded in some way.

There was an accord type-r owned by Wiltshire police which they tuned up a lot, 260bhp+ iirc. They also had a play with escort cossies back in the day too. I know this as I know a chap who worked in the workshop at the Wiltshire police hq and did the work.

Cambridgeshire have used skodas for a while & now Suffolk has a couple of marked vrs & a superb with covert lamps etc

There's more than one list. The Octavia has been removed from the emergency response vehicle list, but it still on the traffic vehicle list. It really depends what ACPO flavour of the week is!

Police around here use vrs's as chase cars and for pursuit training,

As for the 335 most unreliable pile of **** I've ever had the displeasure to own and that's saying something after my range rover sport debacle, the 335 was amazing to drive WHEN it wasn't in for repair well known for faults I would certainly never touch one without a bloody good warranty.

It included all group vehicles. So VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat.

They were allowed to utilise other vehicles at their discretion.
