PD160 intake, cheapest place?

Featured Replies

Sorry if this has been posted before, I did have a quick search but all I found was endless wanted threads :)

Basically what's the cheapest place to buy one of these? I keep seeing people say they are are about £60-£70, but where from? I can only find places selling them new at £90+

And I keep missing them for sale on here or on ebay.

Also does anyone know the part number for it?

Thanks in advance

Lee

darkside developments are doing them for 86, this is including VAT and P&P - thats brand new. cheapest place i've found them. best looking for someone selling second hand in the parts for sale section or post a thread in the wanted section asking if anyone is selling? :)

Have you had a price from seat?

Have you had a price from seat?

When I bought mine seat were selling them for 90+ and I had to drive to the dealers. Whereas darkside were cheaper and delivered which was more convenient for me.

I did see another member say they had gone down in price at seat to around £70, but I'd be surprised if this was true.

they used to be like 60 quid ish. but then seat thought we can rub our hands and charge people 90 quid for a piece of plastic -.-

Oh well ill pop in to my local seat dealer as he knows me. See what price I can get for

like to know the results of that please :)

I will he saw me loads when I had Ibiza Cupra mk3

lol double post by me

nope

3 or 4 years ago, they were £35 for both from SEAT. I wish I'd bought one at that price.

It does seem crazy how they can charge so much for something so little, but I guess because of people like me, the demand is high, hence the price sky-rockets.

Cheers guys

There's definitely a market for a cheaper, more backyard solution IMO. The PD160 fascia plate or the PD130 one mated to a custom pipe to the airbox.

It's only a plastic pipe with a couple of bends and kinks FFS!

Didn't have time to go to seat today... My mate rung tps with the part numbers and wanted a year of the car. He had to ask me what year and then he couldn't get back through on the phone so prices from both to follow tomorrow

Seen the price of the intake on its on from there though :S

I just been doing some measurments and trolled ebay and have spent under £30 and got some parts to make a homemade version with a larger diameter pipe aswell.

Don't quite know how to approach it if keeping the OEM stub on the airbox. A smooth pipe would work well IMO (as the MAF tube becomes the limiting factor - also IMO). Quite how you make it cone shaped and smooth and fit in limited space is a good question.

PS: Bet the Roomster's more space under the bonnet, based on the Golf floorpan.

I just seen one go for £75 posted and was used.... Might as well pay the extra £10 to get it new :S
