First Blackline mod? '-)

Featured Replies

Well jumped into the car this morning, early doors, in my shirt sleeves and christ!

The leather option was a good idea at the time but may end up needing something like this....

I reckon leather option defo. needs heated seat option too. With black line I guess there was no choice!

Sarge.

Never had any issues with my LE (although only had it since June) and never had any issues in the six years I had leather in my car before last.

Generally I'm more likely to be too hot than too cold but seriously I don't see the issue - it warms up in no time and until then you just suck it up, surely?

Hark at her!

Listen, at 0250 this morning when i was heading into work it caught me by surprise how cold the leather was. Thats all. No sucking of anything up required !! lol

Man up FFS :p

Seriously though I got in the car last night, freezing cold, shivering, etc. all I did was leave my coat on and stick the heater on a bit. After about five mins I pulled up an took the coat off. No drama and certainly no need for heated seats.

Then again I saw absolutely no need for heated seats when they were brought up in another thread and some called them invaluable......

Well thats your opinion and you've made it more than clear that your not a fan.....

Anyway this is for Blackline owners!!!

I'm still without my Blackline - I'd love to feel the cold leather seats in a morning but it seems to be permanent fixture at the dealer these days (over 3 weeks with them now). The 1.2 petrol courtesy car doesn't bother with leather :(

Late Novemeber, 3 in the morning and you are wearing a short sleeved shirt?

I think the cold feel of the leather is the least of your worries!

Were tough up here lol. I wear a suit to work (even at 3am) and take the jacket off when i get in the car.

Might need to dig out the other key and start it to warm it up while am at my cheerios!

Being up at the back a 2am sounds bad enough, but to have to wear a suit at that time sounds horrendous, i feel for you man haha!

Used to love my old diesel L&K with heated leather seats, lovely warm feeling. I'm sure it'll be a regular feeling for me in another 30 years

All that to drive trains lol

I feel your pain! Our first book on at the depot is 0312 so it's a 2am for me too - still the Blackline more than makes up for the wake up with cold leather ;) haha

When I purchased my Octy in 2011 I was also having the leather option. Salesman was telling me he'd only ever sold 1 car with the leather option but without the heated option too - and then soon after the guy wished he had :)

I stupidly assumed all leather upgrades included heated seats. My missus has leather and had it in her last car. Both had seat heaters and they are well worth it IMO. I could probably live with out seat heaters if i had leather but it certainly is nicer to have them. You only need them for a couple of minutes just to take the edge off. Actually on that basis they are pretty wastefull in reality for all the amount of time they get used. My missus however has them on far more often but thats women for you.

Sounds like a long shot..... thought of going to a scrappy and getting all the heated seat bits out of one that has it.... talking to seat surgons (or someone like this) about fitting the elements in the seats, then getting the other bits wired in/wireing in yourself???

Would make it an even more Ltd edition ;)

Dabbling in DIY electrics and then sitting on top of an electrical element for potentially hours on end?? Cant see any risk in that. I mean whats the worst that can happen?

I suppose you could always start splashing some water around at the same time :giggle:

Of corse...... its not like they install the element from the factory in other seats...................... D**K

I had a big post typed but its not worth it, If you would like to Discuss this then please PM me like an adult and we can try and clear this up.

If you dont like it then click the report button, its what it is for.

Like i said before:

Back on topic.

OP if you do think the leather is going to cause you greif later down the line then an aftermarket OEM install would proberbly be worth it, there are places out there who would prob to an install of OEM kit for you at cost if you are worried about your DIY skills.

Only thing which which would consern me about leaving the car running to warm up.... is an unattended running car.... perfect for any 'have a go' car theif.

We got your report in the back room about this thread, but I have to ask. Was there any real need to post the above? A real need?! I don't think the above comment was required which triggered the whole thing off..... Sometimes it seems like people are playing with fire, and then moaning in the back room when they get burned.

Can't find the thread now but a member on here retrofitted the elements to their car - could have been a Fabia?

Tis an option.

My comment inferred that DIY retroffiting a heated seat element may not be the cleverest and safest solution. Seeing as this was kind of in line with the topic then there appeared to be a "real need" to share my thoughts on the subject. Sharing these opinions in a light hearted sarcastic way appears to be against forum rules yet calling fellow members d1cks and then offering up ridiculous "come down here and ill explain " threats is perfectly acceptable.

Probably some of the most unbalanced moderating i have ever seen. I actually stated when i reported the post that i didnt want the thread locked as id like him to continue to make a fool of himself and was merely highlighting antagonistic behaviour. You have totally overlooked this and focussed in on my point about retrofitting heated seat elements.

I would love to hear how you think sharing an opinion on retrofitting heated seat elements, albeit in a sarcastic manner, warrants your comments? Especially considering no offensive language or content was included.

Now im moaning when i get burned. Get a grip. This forum is a joke. You try and participate in a topic seriously and try and throw in a bit of banter and this happens.

Do your worst, getting banned from this place is probably the best outcome anyway if this is what we can expect.

Leave then, you add nothing to this place. I'm sure it will survive without you

Yes Jock, stick a sock in it, I am less than impressed with your antics on this forum.
