Just an off-cut of double sided scotch tape will do it... I put a turbo badge on the back of my austin maestro once... good move

what, seriously, void my insurance????????????? i had no idea? will it? anyone?

I thought so... its showing your car as something it isnt... ie if its nicked it may be because some pickey thought it was a vRS... Im not sure if im right or not, but we all know insurance companies are c**ts and will shaft yo at every opportunity...

does tht also mean, if i hypothetically, put a skoda vrs spoiler on my car, it would make it void? hypothetically! lol

pass...!

lol, no worries. cheers, insurance is kind of a big deal, and yes they are c**ts, especially to 17 y.o.s like me.

I put an MG front grill on my maestro too :D

im sure you could get away with it. esp if its not permanent... if its in a crash its houldnt matter and if its stolen you deny all responsibility...

'...It was the pikey your honour...' etc... :D

Silicon sealant will do the job, or double-sided fixing tape from a motor accessories shop. I used the former to put a 4X4 badge on the front grille of my car. The badge will need clamping in place while the sealant cures.

lol, good call! hehe, i wanna do quite a lot to mine, but incurance does worry me, id like to put the lower grill on the front aswell, and on the back. But we'll see!

Ok, two points

1) Technically, any modification not declared to your insurance co *could* invalidate your policy. However, it's unlikely that non-performance enhancing, purely cosmetic changes would do that unless they drastically altered the appearance or value of the vehicle (think replacing all the doors and bonnets with gold plated versions for instance)

2) Superglue. Yep. Normal cyanoacrylate adhesive is what Skoda use to fix on the grille badges. When my vRS grille was replaced that's what they used, anyway... and it's still there.

If you tell them about the badge your covered and it shouldn't cost, however fit a spoiler and you can expect a 10% surcharge as your car is no longer standard, and if you fit one and dont inform them your insurance is worthless! :finger:

have you put alloys on and not told your insurance? they probably won't payout in the event of a claim...

Yep, it is. May I suggest that you read through your policy documentation. The schedule of insurance will tell you what you may and may not do.

It is unlikely that your insurance company would refuse any payout in the event of a claim, unless the claim was as a direct result of the wheel change, for instance by a large change in rolling radius, wheel track, or suspension alignment, but they would certainly refuse to 'like-for-like' replace the wheels, and you'd end up with plain standard steel wheels.

I'm not in any way condoning it, but I have known someone fit wheels and not mention it to his insurers... when he had an accident they said 'non-standard, sorry' to which he responded that they were on the car when he bought it, and since he was a hairdresser (seriously, I'm not kidding) not a mechanic, how the hell was he to know they weren't standard. They replaced them for him as a goodwill gesture, and reminded him to check in future.

lol, well cheers guys, ive been looking through the policy and it doesn't say anything about mods, so i've dropped them an email to see what they say.

Cheers, Chris

Which suggests to me that they're not going to be loving modifications... Which company are you insured with, out of interest?

Which suggests to me that they're not going to be loving modifications...

how do you come to that conclusion?

Insurance companies get right up my nose.

20 years ago probably to the day I was driving around in a car with a 'Turbo ' badge stuck on it,obligatory Hella spotlights,go faster stripes, big speakers sitting on the parcel shelf.

It was still a flipping 1.0 litre Talbot Samba LS whatever(what was I thinking  ) I tried to create.

My sister wrote it off after rolling the tin can,the insurers back then paid up no problem apart from a little haggle on the value of a 1.0 Samba.

Nowadays it's so different. They merrily take a fortune of us all then try and think of any way they can to avoid paying up.If you are reading this you are as bad as thieves you slimey buggers and yes you do make lots of profit out of insurance or you wouldn't be flogging the damn stuff.

If this poor bloke rolls his car and you lot find a stuck on vRS badge, don't even think about voiding for not declaring. It's still a 1.6lx you shysters :D
