Service Indicator.

Featured Replies

My Yeti is now reading 99 days to service. How many days will be showing when it starts telling me the car needs a service?.

The dash board will explode and a giant plastic inflated spanner will slap you in the face whist the radio bursts into a continual loop of "take me for a service" sung by Chris Rea.

If you can find the readout it may possibly say 0

Why spoil the fun, wait and see !!

I presume from your stupid reply its just a case of running the total down and not getting a message say with 15 or 20 days remaining saying 'service due' which you do get on some cars. Thats all I was asking!.Good manners are free, go and get some!.

What does your hand book say

From memory I think it just counts down-I think the other poster was trying to be funny-always difficult and sometimes misfires.

Your counter will have days and miles, mine always has loads of days left but zero miles, as I am on variable service Skoda say it doesn't matter if you are over or under, it will eventually say service due 4 days ago or 15 days ago and so on, nothing else happens it just keeps counting.

Thats all I wanted to know.Thank You.

You say your car 'runs out' of miles first?.Mine has 99 days and 7300 miles remaining. For every 7 calander days it loses 100 miles and 9-10 days from the total.

I have done 61,000 miles in 18 months, so three services done already on the variable regime.

It works it out on both. Whichever comes first.

Fixed it is 15,000km= 9,300 miles and I can't remember if it is 1 or 2 years. Which ever comes first.

Variable it is 2 years or 20,000 miles approx, (probably 30,000km) depending on how it is driven etc, it could be much less.

So if you cover more miles in less than 2 years, you could still have 600-700+ days left for example, but have covered 20,000 miles, so it is due for a service.

Likewise if you do 2,000 miles a year like my client today, then the days will 'run out' first.

I seem to remember the service advisor from A Lawries saying something like the '1.2's normally come up for service at about 14 months' which be about right for my car.

leckman - do you know if your car is set to variable or fixed servicing?

  • Author

Its variable.

Depending on the type of driving that you are doing 14 - 18k would be about right. On the dash does it not display a mileage as a couple of posts have mentioned?

At the moment its saying 7300 miles or 98 days to service.I would imagine by this time next week it will read 7200 miles or 89 days.I only drive about 3.5-4.0 K a tear.

Better start wearing a helmet, that inflatable spanner has probably stated its pressurisation cycle.....they have been known to go off early

My maxidot is now giving me a countdown to 'Service due in xx days' at first turn of the key. 16k miles and 2 years almost to the day from collection.

Rang up a couple of dealers to ask about getting my Yeti serviced-what a waste of time!.Both seem confused by the fact that my days are running out, thus my car will require servicing in February at about 15 months old.I got told things like 'as long you dont exceed the mileage remaining ignore the days remaining?'.

As far as I am concerned I am running out of days to service(there is 68 days to service at the moment) because of my driving style-lots of stop/starts,short journeys etc.

I thought it was a simple case of when either the mileage or days ran out on the service indicator(days in my case) take the car in for service.

Any other 1.2 tsi owners had similair problems?.

Ring-ring: "Hello,Bloggs Skoda,how can I help."

Ah ,yes,I'd like to book my Yeti in for a service.

"Certainly sir, when would you like to book it in?"

Don't ask the nice receptionist difficult questions,(for her) ,just tell her what you want.

I think the corner's still full ,so I'll apologise in advance. :giggle:

Well yes,we are here to book your car in and stamp the service book and thats it.I did not think I was asking them difficult questions, just stating the obvious.

Dont get hung up with the indicator, its only a guide. In fact you could take it in tomorrow for a service and that would be fine.

When we bought ours I asked the dealer to set it to fixed servicing, our driving profile does not suit variable. So what do think they did?

Bugger all, left it at variable, along with not setting the ECU for a tow bar.

Once I have done 10000 miles or (more likely) 12 months it will be in for a service regardless, then they (not the selling dealer thankfully) can set my servicing to annual.

My annual mileage is well below the "suggested time" for servicing but the nag screen told me it was due a couple of months before it's anniversary so I ignored the nag and had it done on the anniversary of its delivery.

The dealer just reset the nag message and said "don't worry unless you exceed the recommended mileage and even then it's not set in stone" common sense should apply.

Emailed the service manager at Mitchells Skoda(where I purchased the car) and he said bring the car in for service at 2 years or 18000 miles, ie November 2013.

If I get a service alert on the dashboard in the meantime take the car into them and they will reset the alert.
