Does anyone know where I can get a set by step guide on replacing one of these?

Very easy to do, passenger footwell, look up and it just unclips - pull it out and push the new one in then clip the plastic back on.

There might be some leaves that fall out with the pollen filter.

Only tool needed will be a torch, tis dark down there, these dark days and nights

And put something like newspaper in the footwell to catch the rubbish that falls out! There'll be a fair amount of it.

I must do mine its now dripping as i found out the other day :( front foot well is soaked.

Do you think If I suffer from bad steaming of windows when wet - If replaced this may cure this?

Carpets not wet checked this already :)

If it is wet you need to fix the water leak. The filter is made of paper so will get wet and dry out quickly so replacing it will not cure a damp issue, well only until it rains again.

Well where would rain come in? I find the back window mists up first but all seems dry.

Is the pollen filter wet then? If it is the rain must be coming down through the intake for the interior fan, not really sure!

The other common problem (and i have it on mine) is that the back windscreen washer pipe is loose, on mine some of the water ends up inside the boot, and sits around the boot latch.

Two sliding plastic retainers at the base of filter, to be pushed to the centre of filter base.

Pull down inner frame containing the paper pollen filter and make a NOTE which way around it came out.

Once out NOTE which way it is fitted to pollen inner frame, and refit back into pollen frame work.

Place/push inner frame back into pollen frame then push the two sliders outwards into their plastic location slides.

Once you have did it you see how easy it was to do.

There are two types of pollen filter, one being plain paper, with the other has carbon added to paper filter.

Whether you get the carbon one or not, I'd make sure you buy an OEM filter. I've had two aftermarkets from ECP now (different brands each time) and they don't quite fit properly. First one just about did, but when I removed it recently I noticed that because I'd had to squash it in so much, one side had bowed slightly and was probably lettiing stuff through the gap. The second one I actually had to cut the ends off because it had the same problem but worse, even with the two end pleats chopped off, it's still a damned tight fit. I think unless the VAG ones are really prohibitively expensive, I'll be fitting genuine next time around.

I think one for my Polo was about £13 from VW, so not massive money. (I know Skoda will be different, but it sets the ball-park.)

Yeah, I can live with that cost every 20,000 miles tbh, and would save me swearing a lot! It's not the easiest job even getting the thing in and out, without the added ballache of the filter not fitting properly in the housing :)

check mine this morning and it needs to be changed as full of dusk but no leaves and bits, trip to tps soon. easy to remove but nightmare to refit in framework.

I will buy the OEM one next time.. Bought mine from Euro car parts today.. Managed to find where it goes, pulled out the old filter and it took me nearly an hour to get the new filter in the frame... Doesn't fit right well.

Note to self though - Make sure I put it back in the right way so the sliding devices slide properly otherwise when the blowers are switched on your left with a very annoying whistling sound!

Glad i put that cloth down, but it still managed to spill over the top.

My factor informed me that two types exist and ordered both in to make sure I got the right one. He was right, not a massive amount in it but different.
