If it is, snow could cause it a few problems :D

Could be a FVC (front view camera) as opposed to an RVC for parking display on the new head units...

Is that the new vauxhall nova saloon just about to drive on the bridge lol. The little neat lip spoiler on the back of one of the octavias is nice.

That VRS would want to be something very special that is one boring looking car.

+1

Cannot say I am overly excited about it. Its not that its a bad looking car, just not very interesting or exciting. Maybe seeing one in the flesh may be better.

Makes me even more tempted when my contract's up...

I think the front end of those look hideous. Rest of the car is nice though. Lights from 159 would have made it far nicer.

A nice alternative Paul and a smart good looking car

I hope its as reliable as VAG though

Ugliest car iv ever seen are u serious , also prob the most unreliable too :(

The new Octy looks nice but nothing special ether, the new vw passat and the new a4 have come on so much I taught the octavia would too, just very plain looking, hope the vrs is nice!

I think the Passat would have to be the dullest car on the road today. The new Octy looks quite nice compared to the Passat. Compared to other European cars however, it's still lagging by a considerable margin.

I hope they do a nice job with the vRS.

How do you end up with a decision between an octavia 3 and that Alfa? Such completely different cars.

Time to burst a bubble about the Alfa - Its a Fiat 500 really :D

The 2 blue colours look quite classy, but I would like to see these in the flesh as you cannot really tell unless you see them in a natural light

Simple. I've driven one and the TCT gearbox changes are as good as the DSG and I like the styling and the way it drove. I've had four Octavia's now and am not keen on the new one so time for a change when the time comes.

The Alfa is a beautiful car but in Ireland they work out very expensive with the auto box.

Fair enough Paul. I usually buy cars based on size/capability for specific needs. So always end up comparing vehicles of similar size/type.

some nice pictures from Sevilla wsdc 2013

Have to say the new Octy is growing on me, looking forward to seeing it in real life:

I know your kidding, but thats the kinda comments we get when people say oh it's just a Polo / Golf... when you know it's a totally different product!! :)

Anyway I would assume it would be more Bravo than 500! ;)

It is indeed a slightly longer evolution of the Bravo platform, just like the ugly as hell Delta.

Am I the first to notice that operation of cruise control has been moved to a separate stalk underneath the lefthand indicator stalk, as per the current Passat. This is something which deterred me from choosing a Passat, as the driver has to stretch to reach the separate stalk, whereas, the cruise operation on the indicator stalk is the ideal position for ease of use.

With the adaptive cruise there's probably too many functions to add to the indicator stalk.

I agree it's not as convenient though. It's separate on my bravo, but didn't take long to get used to it.

My BMW had a smaller separate stalk for cruise and was a far far better solution than the current VAG option on my VRS. The BMW was simply the best and easiest way to operate cruise i have ever used including steering wheel buttons. The VAG one isnt bad by any means but the separate stalk was far better. There is no guarantee that the VAG separate stalk will operate the way the BMW one does but hopefully they have had a look and taken some inspiration at least.
