Neither. Open garage door, switch on lights, stereo, heated seats (I wish) and drive off. At night, open garage door, reverse in...

I put two 60W tube heaters in the car overnight - one in each front footlwell. The car windows were clear of ice this morning, unlike other cars parked nearby.

Open the door, start engine, switch on heated rear window, heater full on to windscreen, and then use vey lukewarm water to defrost, switch on wipers,......drive away.

We're twinses. :)

  • Open Car
  • Start engine

You park backwards in your garage?

We always go in forwards due to the exhaust.

My process is walk out the front door, look at how frosty it is, then walk to work lol

Whatever you do, do not buy eurocarparts triple qx de-icer in a can

Used it this morning and it did a brilliant job on glass and mirrors, however as I drove to work and the car heated up the last of it evaporated and the residual liquid is brown !!!

Every piece of glass has brown spots on it, to be fair though it does say trade de-icer but im gutted at having to wash the car this weekend after its winter polish last weekend

Start car, no blower etc and go get a kettle of look warm water :)

This. Almost. 2ltr pop bottle, just barely warm water. Pour over screen and windows- most over the front screen, start car, drive away.

Start engine, go back indoors for a cuppa, drive off with clear screen and stay in 2nd. for a couple of miles revving it's nuts off until the heater gets toasty, don't care about wear on engine, it's a Vivaro workvan and not mine.

Man after my own heart! Poor Renault masters :p

Lordy there seems to be some quick getaways going on here!!!! If only i was one of them!!...If i just left the car to iddle with the front and rear windscreens on id still be sat there half an hour later!!!...as for heated wing mirrors...behave... they are as much use as a left handed tug!!! and im not a leftie!!!

If i dont scrape the window or use di-icer then its just useless!!!

Kit :)

Just scrape the screen on my wife's Fabia.

My mondeo has a heated front screen so that does it really nicely :)

In that case I think you need new mirrors.

I just replaced the drivers side one as it was useless. The passenger one was pretty good and cleared fairly quick.

Now when I switch the mirrors on the new drivers side one is warm to the touch within about 30 seconds and clear.

Go out, swear at self for forgetting to put car in garage.

Turn on car, fans at max, rear screen on. Curse self for ever getting rid of Focus with heated front screen.

Scrape off ice (never damaged screen with plastic scraper)

Scoot on deicer (never noticed any issue with it either can't be worse than the salty crap stuck to the car right now).

Get in drive off.

Stop 500yd down road when screen fogs up. Curse SWMBO for having used her hand on the screen.

Sit in car for 5 min till screens clear to safe degree.

Go to work cursing useless drivers I'm now stuck behind.

Wish there was a "LMFAO" button! BRILLIANT!!

Watch out doing this as 10 cars were stolen round my way this morning due to people leaving vehicles running

Where's round my way? I am surprised at the number of people that actually leave their car in a steal-able place while inside the house with a cuppa!

If we run the car we lock it using the second key in the door.

Granted that someone could smash a window and drive off but they'd be bloody cold while driving :giggle:

I don't know about yours but when locked, mine is deadlocked so if they smash a window, they will have to climb through the window as even the interior door handle won't work!

Of course the smarter theives will realise that they can remove the key from the ignition, unlock the door and then drive off rather than climbing through a window :D

Interestingly, speaking to a main dealer the other day, it seems that one of the thieves' preferred ways into a car is to manipulate the door lock to trigger the convenience opening of the windows. Quick, simple and no damage!
