Change in car taste?

Featured Replies

IB5 S4 avant? Mega jealous! I like your taste in cars and the Volvo is awesome!

I think its like the Top Gear Cool wall, all the big shouty cars (well 99%) where classed as uncool as they kinda are in a way. One car the springs to mind is the Porsche GT3 RS, i bet it an awesome car to drive and a real drivers car but the scaffolding in the back makes you look like abit of a **** to be honest and the colour options are to be desired!

Ive actually had 2 S4 avants lol

Ive also had a DC2 Integra Type R, massively over rated car imo!

  • Err... I am 37 (and so is my wife) and we both have Skoda Yetis. Mine is the 170bhp 4x4 version and it's seen track use too. We are not all old farts you know. On a more serious note, we all fancy

  • If I won the lottery I'd shoehorn an Audi V10 into a 4WD Yeti

  • If it was a 1958 it was a 2, not a 2a. Yes, bit of a Land Rover fan... Sorry.

I've been looking for a stage two, but so far on the 170CR it's only a stage one which gives about 200-210bhp and a lot of torque.

Mind you, with the 4x4 working away it's surprisingly capable.

I consider stage two a bit of turbo work though. Maybe 250(ish)bhp?

Other than the "weekend car" you've got my garage. But I snuck a jap thing in there... :D

Sorry forgot to reply to this, Ive got a shark stage 2 and its depends how drive-able you want the car, 250BHP is very ambitious, stage two could reach 230BHP with the 2.0PD (DPF removed) but it smoked like Dot Cotton riding the Flying Scotsman and it was really jerky at lower revs so i opted for a much more manageable 212BHP with about 490 LBS/FT ( i think dont quote me on the torque atm!) but revs like a pterol and the boost is amazing, im sure the same if not better results can be achieved from the 2.0CR .

Remaps are the best thing since sliced bread tbh, the Octy will put most 'sport' things to shame and it achieved 53mpg average on a road trip to Germany :)

All about the sleepy looking skoda, makes me miss my silver IHI powered Octavia, nothing beats ****ing all over an evo, scooby or even a porsche in a taxi! Lol

I have always had a strange taste in cars and I stopped counting how many when I hit the 100 mark around 10 years ago.

For example at 19 (24 years ago) I had a Series 2a ex military Landrover.

At 20 I was running around in a BMW 520i and then a Rover SD1 3500 and then a Mini1000.

At 22 I had a Rangerover and the a Citreon BX diesel.

Most people my age then had XR3s and things like than.

It is better to be differant.

A few bikes for hooning on, an old landrover series/defender for town use, some anonymous luxobarge for motorway/Autobahn. (jag with blown LS7 motor maybe?).

Is this what they mean by topic drift?

I completely understand where your coming from! I've been told the Octavia is too big, my partner says it's a tank compared to his 107 lol...!

However I also said that I'd never have gone near a 107! that was a great conversation killer...

I love the Fiat Panda 100, I also love the new Bug, and 'Rocco!

The Yeti is a great looking chunky toy in my eyes and I think any age could suit that car. It's got the charm and cheeky looks while still looking rugged and would look good covered in mud!

I think the reason why I love the Octavia is for its sedan style, I love a car with a boot (classic 3 box proportions) But as most of you also know I love estates...after 3 Fabia Combi's I felt like it was time to upscale to an Octavia.

The Superb looks great, and the estate is probably the best looking car out there for that class! Everytime I see one I point it out to anyone and tell them how good it looks!

For someone who's 24 maybe my choice of car is a little older than me, but the A8 is an epic luxo barge, so is the Pheaton, and the 7 Series all can be picked up for a bloody good price used!

Far too big for parking around town, but great if you don't need to worry about parking. I'm already paranoid my car is too wide and is gagging for a parking ding...I dread to think what I'd be like with a bigger car...doesn't mean I wouldn't have one! Follow your heart Emma! :D

Don't understand why someone would say your car doesn't suit you because it's too big. If it was said about me I would be driving a Tuk-Tuk! My better half spent many years tanking about in an old Suszuki SJ until she changed recently to a Nissan 370z, because "it's pretty". It's impractical, loud, has the finese of an ICBM, but she loves it. Give me my load lugger anyday.

It's all a matter of taste.

I love every Skoda now, the Roomster was my least favorite but i now want one of those aswell!

The odd thing up till i had my Octy i was into my GTi hot hatches and big loud shouty cars, if i won the lottery id be heading down the Lambo garage where as now id just head on down to Skoda and Audi haha

Im in love with 'box' cars aswell atm. Im still looking for an Ignis (ill trade the 306 if i find a good one!) I want a Wagon R, a Panda and Citigo..anything that rides tall but is small :)

I do think the Octy is big for me tbh, when your driving behind me you actually cant see me! Thankfully im good at reversing (although it does have sensors!) so parking big cars i find easy but most big cars nowadays do come with sensors so its easy really

Spooky, also 23, also have the exact same taste in cars. I like all the cars you mentioned. Meanwhile my younger brother creams himself over a vxr of some form.

Same here 23 aswell and the cars mentioned apeal to me also. A new superb estate or a yeti in white would be my dream next car, the superb would be on air ride though. My style changes alot though im on my 13th car now and looking for a 14th but keeping the fab for fun and having a big lazy car to mope around in (passat estate on air) but i know after about 6months it will be sold for another off roader.

OK, you are odd after all.

Think the newer ones are kicking out more power but still it would make for a very interesting Yeti. :D

Or sling it in the back of a Roomster... Santa Pod Special.

Now there's an idea.

We were having this convo in chat other night,

finally decided on a jag supercharged V8 lump in a rapid

Although air is incredibly scene faggish id also love a Superb on air, would look beyond cool! Even if i got the Yeti it would have to be lowered, i had one for a loan car (love at first sight tbh) but i got altitude sickness being all the way up there!

Ill display my comment with an arrangement of smiley faces...

:love: :happy::rofl::wub::thumbup:

That would become my new occupation!

Would be interesting to see how having a humongous V10 over the front wheels affects handling..although i dont give a toss, this has to be done!

I'm 40 in a few months, needed a change from the Fabia as the noisy

engine was starting to get on my nerves, as was its inability to get any

of the power down in wet/slippery conditions.

I picked my S3 because it was very similar looking to my Fabia vRS

(Which I loved dearly) but with all the things I'd have spent a fortune doing

to my Fabia without adding any value to it. (upping power to 250bhp+Leather, nav, xenons,

factory tints etc) plus the benefit of 4wd, it being a slightly larger car and

(as I don't really need them) just 2 doors. Very happy with my choice.

Still a head turner but not at all flash or garish or worse still a copper magnet.

Just finished project debadge (New black grille no s3 badge) so it just looks like

a black A3 now. With 265bhp on tap as standard and the option to get it

up to well over 350 with some nice invisible mods and mapping it should

keep the 20 year old me alive for a few more years.

One little job to do (if it stops raining) then I'll update my thread with

some pics.

+1 if I can't afford the new Octy vRS when it's out, in whenever, the Guilietta has to be the way forward.

Hope it does not end the same way many VAG 1.4 turbo's have! Serious drinking and self destruct problem..

Sounds very familiar to me. I did the whole modded Octavia 4x4 turbo and mk2 octy VRS stage 2+ when I was in my mid twenties. I also had a Focus running in excess of 330bhp with nitrous which was a trackday weapon but then I grew up... I got frustrated owning cars that were 100% great 10% of the time. I realised that the more I modded the cars, the more compromised they became as daily transport ie stiffer suspension setup = amazing handling on smooth Tarmac. Not necessarily what I drove on each day and at times downright uncomfortable! I now own, what I consider to be a totally umcompromised Q car - one which ticks ALL the boxes ie handles and grips exceptionally well but is still comfortable enough to do 13 hour driving days behind the wheel in, quick but capable of good fuel returns etc etc. You change as you get older, as do your tastes. I've certainly become less willing to compromise!

Nearly ended up buying a Panda 100hp in grey as my run around (dealer sold it the morning i went to finalise the deal!) and I'll also own an A8 luxo barge or similar in the near future. Oh and I also like the Roomster! Scout in white for me. ;-)
