Hello,

New joiner here. Had an '04 Octavia PD130 Ambient SE from new but parked it in a ditch in early December :'(. Written off, decided to get a Superb so in-laws fit in the back more easily (seats not boot!). Got a '53 1.8T Comfort from a dealer for £3k, including replacement mats, umbrella and roof bars (the ad said folding seats).

Had a bit of a panic when I read about the water ingress.

More of a panic when I saw the battery sitting in water

Major panic when I saw it had risen overnight during the heavy rain.

So, took out the plenum cover and took off the battery clamp. Couldn't see how to get the battery out without removing things I wasn't confident about. Slid the battery to one side and pushed on the bung and dislodged it enough so the water drained away. Hurrah!

Looked at the air inlet and it looks like it hasn't got wet yet. Phew!!

I'll get a local mechanic to have a proper look at see if the seal hasn't been fixed and fix it if necessary.

Rupert
