Blackline spec

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I put a deposit on a demo Blackline yesterday. I haven't seen the car d the salesman said the car wasn't there so could not confirm a few things. It's a white estate DSG (which was the one I wanted).

I have 2 questions

1 I have seen photos of Blacklines and I have seen 2 steering wheels, one standard and one multifunction. Is the multifunction standard with DSG or was this an option?

2 does the DSG have paddle shift as standard?

Tks

M

Pretty sure both were standard on all DSG vRSs - my brother's certainly came with both.

Sarge.

The DSG comes with multifunction steering wheel as standard on the Blackline, it is the manual that has the 'normal' wheel. It also has the paddle shift fitted.

That's what I thought, salesman said it didn't have multifunction. I will clarify tomorrow as its a deal breaker for me. I need the phone and will need to do the mod. Dealer wants £350 yeh right! However I'm not interested if it can only be operated on the head unit.

Tks for clarification

What a useless salesman who knows nothing about VRS's you will have both. The best course of action is to turn up with a smug look on your face and drive off a happy chappy.

Haha I want a picture of the steering wheel tomorrow, and it sounds like all Blackline owners have the BT thing sussed so looking forward to it. I have the same engine and gearbox on my previous FR so I know what I'm getting but DAB and leathers sounds nice.

Was at the Aberdeen dealership? I never hear about a good salesperson in that place. Service department are great though.

You will get MFSW with DSG.

MFSW is not required for BT phone, you can use the Amunsden unit.

When I bought my Blackline I didn't want DSG and Paddles, for me it was an extra cost (to buy, tax, insurance, maintenance) I didnt realise I would miss out on the MFSW! Since owning the car, I can't say it's a problem, but certainly would prefer to have it.

DSG has multi function wheel. The BT upgrade £10 beer money for the coding, £25 ish for the lead. 45 mins of your time to route the cable.

Technically correct however much better to be able to answer the phone without taking your hands off the steering wheel. I would not entertain doing it any other way. Same as radio controls. Crazy to have it as an option, for me it's a vital piece of safety equipment.

Not crazy as not everyone wants or needs it. I don't really have any interest in talking to people on the phone whilst driving.

This is the same for a lot of people I imagine, however some people need to be able to use the phone whilst on the move as part of their job.

I work for the Government and it's a disciplinary offence to use a mobile phone whilst driving on business.

so the manual blacklines don't have stereo controls on the steering wheel ?

'twas the same at my last place - speeding too I think (certainly in their cars or in your own car but with other members of staff with you - can't remember if it was ok to speed in your own car as the sole occupant though)

Essentially any traffic offence is a disciplinary offence too. Obviously if you're driving your own car it would be difficult for them to ever know which was one of the reasons I did for a while but I was piling the mileage on so just use hire cars now.

Damn you for blowing my cover ;-)

Nope.

so the manual blacklines don't have stereo controls on the steering wheel ?

Nope, you can access the stereo via the maxidot and use the right hand stalk, but there's nothing on the steering wheel as such. I had the MFSW on my SE plus with bluetooth, hands free phone and the works, but I've soon got used to what I have (n't) got on the Blackline, compared with what I didn't have on the SE+ . not a problem for me not having bthe MFSW though it could be an issue for others I guess. Simple answer is to get the DSG if it's a show stopper for you.

Guess you have your answer but just to back up anything said above the manual has no MFSW, the DSG does, its standard equipment and does have paddle shifts.

A normal DSG vRS also gets the Maxidot trip computer as standard, the manual a more basic one with the maxidot being optional; though due to the Blackline having standard Amundsen sat nav believe Skoda have bundled maxidot in as standard for the manual cars. If this is the case you can actually use the trip computer stalk to skip tracks/radio presets

Thanks all, I think this one is closed

thanks for the confirmation.

Actually DSG is a deal-stopper: has to be the manual car for the missus to at least consider it.

We've already got an Elegance with the MFSW, but I guess we'd get used to not having it on the vRS

and if the maxidot lets you do stuff with stalks, then that's not far off what we used to have on a Focus.
