Car has taken a back burner for a while now, not overly been interested in it if I'm honest, plus women have been spending my hard earned pennies so very little to spare for the car :P

Done a few little maintenance jobs over the weekend, changed the coolant expansion tank as keep getting the light and 3 beeps on startup, fitted new front flat blades and finally changed my rear wiper over to the Polo Flat blade.

Ordered myself some disc's going to be machining them soon at work, but could be waiting a while for pads as the Mintex M1144's are a 6-8 week waiting list.

Old style blade/arm (not even sure what it was off as it wasn't a Fabia one)

Also decided to give it a wash as I have done a fair amount of miles in it lately, trip to Scotland and back, and then a trip upto Middlesbrough on Friday night.

Not a major update really as I haven't been overly interested in the car lately as I haven't been having much luck with it. Lad at work backed into the passenger side one evening as we had a powercut and he couldn't see it, needs a replacement wing and door, going into the bodyshop in a few weeks at work and also going to have the front end resprayed, planning on having a big mouth front bumper done at the same time.

Managed to rip off the front splitter aswell the weekend after when visiting the girlfriend, then later on in the week the handbrake cable snapped

Because of this I must admit I have lost a lot of love for the car (then again think a lot of people do over the winter months) and as such I let it go for long while between its washes, which is very unlike me...

I ordered a set of Mintex M1144's before xmas, but as many of you are aware its a 6-8 week waiting list for them. I also have a set of HEL braided hoses to fit including a full brake system flush for 5.1 fluid.

I have still YET to fit my intercooler, mainly due to the Corvette Stingray sat on the ramp with no brakes, but that will be removed soon and I will fit the intercooler along with the brakes.

I hope to try and buy a set of TT comp's sometime soon if funds allow and I wanna give the whole car a good tidy up ready for the show season and get a few bits to freshen it up, new splitter, new arch liners, new mats to name a few.

And now I will leave you with a pic of it at Trax last year :D

About time you had an update.

Shame the car got damaged, I've got a bit of a dent from where someone drove into it and didn't own up. The winter does suck a lot of joy from owning cars. Too cold to work on it and hardly any point in washing it with the roads the way they are.

Will look brilliant when it gets back from the body shop

Also that cnc machine looks like a superb gadget :)

Awsome work! Very nice selection of mods

Your inbox is full, I tried to pm you

This is absolutely awesome, especially the fact you're making your own parts. That really impresses me!!

With regards to the coupling you made, how did you create the lugs that stick out? Obviously that wouldn't be possible with a lathe? What machine is it?

Thanks very much fella, yeah it is a lathe, but it's a 3 axis lathe.

Aswell as the usual X and Z axis, you have a Y axis too so the turret actually lifts up and you can run around the outer diameter of a shape with an endmill to leave the desired shape required.

It's just a case of knowing/working out the radius of the curves onto the lugs to machine the shape required

Small treat in preparation for the update over the weekend and the next few weeks.

1981943_597353145189_1191645896_n.jpg

Going to finally fit the new disc's and pad's. Got new HEL braided hoses to fit along with a full system flush over to 5.1 Fluid. Replacing the handbrake cables also as one is sticking and also fitting the return springs on the rear calipers. The calipers are also being treated to a lick of 'Kawasaki' Green paint.

The replacement door and wing are currently in primer in the bodyshop, the car itself will be going in, in the next week or two for the work to be carried out.

I am ordering myself a set of Team Dynamic Pro race 3's wrapped in Maxxis MA-Z3's tomorrow, ready for once the car is back out of the paintshop so it will be looking nice and fresh, just need some decent weather and polish up the rest of the paintwork to match the new lot.

Superb mate, this will look brilliant once it's back :) what colour wheels did you get! Like the pro race 3s look ace on a Fabia

I'm going for a set of white one's, not a fan of them in silver and I think black wheels just look lost on a black car

Good choice :)

Sorted the brakes out at last, had an issue with the rear hoses that I had, with the banjos that were fitted being M10 when I needed M12. Had to wait a couple of days to get my replacement ones delivered. Just got it all back together tonight and the system bled.

Initial thoughts are the brakes feel a tad wooden, I'm hoping this is just due to them being new and not being air in the system still, but when you anchor on they really stop you, even managed to have the wheels lock up in the dry.

The old disc's were well and truly knackered, the pads still had plenty of life left in them however.

The bus sat on axle stands

20140308_115146_zps44efe98f.jpg

The drivers rear handbrake cable was sticking, aswell as the caliper sticking also, I ended up stripping the piston out and freeing it all up and putting it back together aswell as fitting new handbrake cables

20140308_123446_zps83d4fe35.jpg

I cleaned the calipers up with a wire brush attachment on an air drill before I etch primed and then painted them

Wasn't happy with the paint I was supplied as it was still tacky a week later, went and got some replacement and just using a rag with brake cleaner I was able to wipe the paint off.

So yesterday I set about re-painting the calipers once again. My wheels are due in a couple of weeks, ended up getting Yokohama Parada Spec 2 tyres as the Maxxis weren't available. Got some Gtechniq C5 Alloy Wheel Armour on order too, ready for when they arrive.

I feel an update is needed for this.

The car FINALLY went into the bodyshop last week after being bumped 6 months ago nearly, lost a lot of love for the car over this time and pretty much neglected the car and not washed it very often which is very unlike myself. Went in on Wednesday and I picked it up on the Friday.

20140516_154623_zpsg0jsuwdg.jpg

On Sunday with the weather being so nice and feeling some love once again for the car I decided to set about to start to tidy her up ready for the show season.

So up in the air she went and all 4 wheels off.

20140518_115453_zpswfsv9f90.jpg

Just an example of how manky the arches were to begin with.

20140518_120031_zps4my2ekm2.jpg

My method first of all was to rinse any loose crap out with the pressure washer, next I applied Autosmart Tardis into the arches and worked it in with an old wheel brush.

Rinsed the arches off, then I applied Snow foam

20140518_133953_zps7cz6kuus.jpg

Once again I worked this in with an old wheel brush before rinsing off and then removing the arch liner itself.

The bare arch was once again sprayed with Snowfoam and using a spray bottle filled with TFR I worked the hard to reach areas with a wheel brush (oh and for the springs I used my mums toothbrush but shh don't tell her that)

20140518_132338_zpsdfnsfce5.jpg

The arch liners were cleaned once again inside and out with TFR before being treated to some tyre shine (Couldn't locate my trim restorer otherwise I'd of used this....reminds me cleaning gear needs to be ordered)

20140518_165142_zpsckdogaon.jpg

The wheels were subjected to the same as the bare arches were, Tardis, Snowfoam, TFR and a wheel brush......

20140518_121523_zpsbj4efsbo.jpg

20140518_160142_zps9sminae9.jpg

The wheels haven't come up fantastic, I had ordered some new ones, but been told the last cast was scrap due to a faulty pour, and they are unsure if they are making any more again so for now I am going to refurb these current wheels and paint them Purple like so.....

Purple-GTR_zps1cvtwsyp.jpg

And on other news, big plans and BIG money are going to be spent on the car in the next month or two, I am fitting a GTB2260vk turbo fitted onto a Darkside Developments manifold with an LSD aswell as an uprated SACHS clutch and a flywheel which I will be making myself at work.....

Nice one mate, great to see it back from the body shop. Looks great.

Thanks Charlie, I just can't wait for the toys/mods to start turning up next month and then I can get cracking and fit it all :D
