I'd like to keep this brief, see how it goes..

My girl had an accident..

f/n/s wheel got smashed into and steering rod broke off off the wheel hub..

got cat c for this and we will be trying to repair it.. guys at the garage said they won't be able to tell if the steering rack got damaged until they change the hub.. quoted me about £100 for labor to do that if I provide the hub..

Q1: is there any way to figure out if the steering rack got damaged?

Q2: or maybe it would be better to change the steering rack straight away?

Q3: found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160947530848&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123

vendor is tellin me it will fit my '02 1.9 SDI although it comes from 04 TDI.. is that the case?

Q4: another guy is telling me that they have different steering angle sensors and that it won't fit?

that is it for now, having a bit of a hard time putting it all together, have to arrange for skoda to be picked up, parts, and garage.. and trying to do it all on a budget..

thanks in advance for all the answers and suggestions..

Sweet! thank you very much, I'm based in London though.. and are they going to fit?

Ah that could be an issue, im based im glasgow...

If the disc brake size is 256mm then yes the hubs should be a straight fit, however i'll check part numbers when i get a chance and confirm.

For the price of a courier that seems a worthwhile option :)

The part numbers for the pair of hubs i have. They still have wheel bearings and discs fitted. If you were handy with a few spanners and can follow the guide http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/92625-fabia-wishbone-bush-replacement-diy-guide/ which gives you an idea of how to take the wishbone off the hub, and buy this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-STRUT-NUT-TOOL-HUB-CLAMP-SPLITTERS-5mm-5-5mm-/350486523845?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item519a9fefc5 to take the suspension strut out of the wishbone, then you could save yourself a fair chunk of money. Message me if you need anymore info on the hubs.

Thanks Barbourc1 sounds like a good way to approach it at the moment.. change the hub myself (always up for a challenge) see how it acts, then act accordingly.. :)
