Whats the point

Around here the only Jimny's you see invariably have pink steering wheel covers, pink dice hanging off the mirror and cow patterned covers on the seats. :giggle: :giggle:

If you haven't noticed there are 2 :giggle: :giggle: at the end of this, and they are "giggles", so I am sure that most people, George included, fully understand that the comment was totally tongue-in-cheek!!

And actually there seem to be 3 Jimny's that come into Llani, and two of them are exactly as I describe. Both are owned by two very nice (to look at) young ladies, who I am sure are very happy with their vehicles.

  • It's been a while since I've read so much utter crap on a thread like this.

  • Octavia is too big. Golf is too expensive. Audi is even more so. And because it's called Free Choice

  • Not everyone needs 4x4, but they do like the look of the Yeti, the practical body, the higher driving position and a bit of extra ground clearance. I'd have thought it was quite easy to understand.

Everyone is overlooking the best feature: Sliding in and out of the seats rather than climbing out of and and dropping into !

I have decided if you can not beat them then join them.

I need someplace to fit my new pink steering wheel & seat covers, so a Yeti seems to be the right place.

Will have to make it a 4x4, or my number plate is going to look out of place.

So 'Why a 4x4 and not a 2wd Yeti?' or a something else?, Just because 'you know it makes sense.

& If i change my mind want a Quattro or a quattro then thats what i will get, not a Yeti.

Mmmm...

I have decided if you can not beat them then join them. Don't feel as though you're under any obligation. It's not going to worry anyone whether you get one or whether you don't.

Thats all good then,

george

I've a few reg numbers 44 on, never know it meant 4x4.

Learn something every day. :)

I do not believe that it does,

just thought in the context of fitting to a non 4x4 Yeti it might look rather wannabe to those that notice these things.

No degree of seriousness is meant or intended in my posts.

I do find it interesting that people seem to post firm comments without actually understanding the technology ie the topic being discussed. Just how much difference do people think there is between the 4wd system fitted to something like an S3 or Golf R and the Yeti setup?

As has been corrected above, on the road, the Haldex 4 is a very different system to the older Haldex 2 setups. It doesnt wait until the front wheels loose traction, its always in the state of running drive to all wheels, not just the front ones under noraml conditions. Comparitively the aforementioned Octavia VRS has real difficulty with putting the power/torque down in the damp weather we so often see over here.

I'd buy a 2wd Yeti as arguably, they offer even better value for money. Great quality for the money with the same amazingly versatile interior setup which I find genuinely valuable on a family multi use vehicle. :) The additional ground clearance and higher ride height are further advantages over a standard fwd hatchback.

Agree on that observation.

Light the touch paper and !! (OP)

Just as I thought, acomplete load of old 1507046.GIF did a good job too

Funnily enough, although SWMBO has said we won't be changing for at least another 18 months, I have looked at the 110bhp 2 wheel drive version. I'm finding that I don't need the 4x4 facility as much now and that spec will do all that I require of it. The main thing over anything else is the ground clearance and the towing capacity.

You are right, the OP said nothing about cold weather or anything like offroad use. (lives in Scotland and has a Yeti 4x4 tho)

just

'If you need 4x4 capability, buy 4x4 otherwise..............'.

So by that merit,

if you want a Robust, Tallish Car without 4x4 capability,

a Yeti will possibly suit better than a Octavia, Golf or Audi 2wd .

I know that a Octavia is no use to me to get in or out, or a Golf, or in fact a Yeti.

(been looking at them & climbing in and out of them again this week.)

Funny how different cars but similar suit different people and their requirements,

and others just do not meet their needs or requirements..

All cars are worthy IMO. I would never dis Yeti owners or cars no mater how many wheels get driven,

No idea what other Fabia owners think.

CBF,

If quoting or posting a quote, especially mine, its not good practice to edit the persons post.IMO

LESSER in capitals must be your use of capitals, not mine, i wrote "lesser" 'post #25

george

I used capitals to highlight the word and nothing else.

Anyone reading the thread would see the original and my quoting of it and I would not see there was any confusion.

If you want to get picky, I suggest you get my screen name correct to avoid confusion.

Oh dear (again), hasn't this been done to death now?

Can't we park it now and talk about something that is actually important? Like....... it's going to be cold soon and it might be slippery ..... oh, no, that'll bring out more talk about 2wd vs 4wd. Ok, I give up!!! :wall:

Oh, do we have to?

I was just starting to get dizzy :giggle:
