Roomsters puny horn

Featured Replies

Hi all, like a few other people on here,my 07 Roomster is fitted with a horn which can only be described as pathetic at best. I recently drove a Citigo & that had a lovely sounding twin tone horn that would wake the dead. Does anyone know whether a horn from a Citigo would fit a Roomy using the existing multiplug or if there is a similar unit from say an Octavia which would do the job. Also mine has the small circular front fogs, do I have to remove that to access the horn or just the n/s bumper grille.

I found this a while back while researching the same question.

Thanks from me too, very useful.

He's good at hiding what's going on behind his hands though.

I want the horn I had in my 2003 Astra, even better than a Merc horn

Lookin at the bosch two tone as well, seems the best with going for an Air horn

Changed the horns recently for a pair of hi/lo tone units from a company called The Online Parts Shop. £15.95 delivered & they make a huge difference. Wiring them is easy, just put the horns side by side facing the same way & there will be an outer terminal & an inner terminal on each horn. Just wire all the attach the wires to all the terminals on the horns then join the two wires together from the outer terminals then the two inner ones. I tested them first by touching the wires on to my battery charger leads. With there only being two wires, it didn't seem to make any difference which way round they went. Oh one other thing is that the female terminals in the horn wiring loom are tiny & the crimped spade terminals you get at Halfords are too big as I found out when I had to cut them off the wiring for the new horns. Currently the wires are just pushed into the horn connector on the loom which is a bit of a bodge but hopefully I should be able to source a proper connector from an auto wiring shop to finish the job properly

Shame he doesn't possess spanners!

Seriously, looks like a good idea, though the extra weight of two horns might crack the bracket after a time. You need to waterproof the connections very thoroughly too as it's going to get salty water in there at some point.

After I had fitted my dual tone horns I tested them & they sounded horrible so I pulled off the bumper grille & found they were touching the bodywork & vibrating. By bending the horn bracket slightly forward so that they were away from the bodywork the problem was easily sorted. By the way folks there isn't a massive amount of room for two

horns so if you fit any you may have to adjust them.

about a little bit to get them to fit properly.
