This colour (or one extremely close) is in my 'swatch' book, and I have to admit it is on my list :)

Love this colour in the vRS.

That's strangely attractive.

The car's not bad either.

What car!!

My neighbour has an RS4 Avant wrapped. From a distance it looks anthracite but up close it is a carbon fibre weave. It does look very good.

It sounds even better. LOL

I wrapped my golf in a random colour so I thought I would share it. Its Hexis Matte Kiwi green with a Matte white roof.

my experience is that don't cheapen out on something like this, I done it through a friend of a friend and you notice. there are many bits on it that need redoing.

I am about to sell this and get an octavia VRS in the coming weeks.

Matt I think will soon become old fashioned.

Remember the Octy has a large area of bodywork so a colour that looks good on a small sports car will be to in your face on the Octy

If you have photoshop or know someone who has take a piccy of the car & play around

Wheel style / colour also has an effect, if you dont want to touch the wheels then bear that in mind as well

Also wrapping it will devalue it as it will reduce your pool of potential buyers, thats from a chap whos spent tens of thousands modding cars so dont let that be to much of a consideration

lastly if it worries you remember a massive contrast to std will look odd if the door shuts etc arent all done & again if you enjoy opening the bonnet to show off the motor. When I get cars sprayed I use a colour thats close to std so door shuts etc dont stand out, the same or similar base colour with a metalic flip works well but not a candidate for yellow I think, will just be to Gawdy.

As I said photoshop is your friend, I have no idea how to use it but a kid somewhwere is sure to be a whizz on it, you may even find the wrapping company can do some mock ups

I must be the only person who thinks matte colours look.....meh.

Anyway, good luck with getting the colour/finish you want.

I'm not worried about the quality of the application, as the guys doing it represent the manufacturer of the material. The people present during the wrap will have paid £350 each to be there, as it's a course/demonstration on the best/correct ways to apply the material. I'm expecting the door shuts to be done, but not in the engine bay.

I take on board the comments re the impact on the value of the car, But in this case the demand for the base colour of the car is very limited being Yellow. So with this in mind I'm not so sure it will devalue the car tbh, especially as it's now at the affordable end of the performance car market for the 'young-uns' :) In any case, I can have the wrap removed professionally for £100 at any time in the future so it's not a big issue really.

I'm starting to think the VRS+ colour with my 19'' BBS refurbed in light antracite, dropped on the KW V1 Inox coilovers I've just bagged might be the the way to go ;)

here's how it looks now -

So how much would this cost to do if you weren't getting it done free then?

A top quality job with good quality material, including inside the door shuts, on a car the size of the octavia would be circa £1300 - £1500 at a guess.

So not cheap :whew:

mine was £1250 without the door shuts being done (my car was black so looks alright), but it would be closer to £1500+ for the Octavia as there is more material needed.

I may be very slightly biased, but that colour, lowered, and with anthracite alloys would look superb. If you did change the colour, I would personally go for a matt silver with anthracite alloys.

He-He-He,... you would, it's your old car

But the chance of a free complete wrap is too good to turn down

I do like it, but it's been done already by you so I want something different :)

How easy it is to maintain the matt finish? what products do you use on it ?

Cheers.

The Matt finish is dead easy. At the moment I use Meguairs products to clean and protect it, but I might give this a try, supposed to be the dog's http://us.shiningmonkeycorp.com/products/119-ken-block-360-matte-paint-vinyl-wrap-detailer.aspx

The hardest part is maintaining a good adherence between the vinyl and the sill. They have this stone chip stuff on them which makes applying vinyl really difficult. I've had to trim it and add a strip over the seam with extra spray glue to make sure it stays. Thankfully it has.

I use just soap and water that I read on many forums to help maintain the matt finish. no polish or wax.

may be something else thats better to use but it seems to get the finish to back its original state.

I knew that Martin... :giggle:

Seriously, if you need something to maintain a matt finish you might be wise to invest in something like Swissvax Opaque wax. It is stupidly expensive £50 for 50ml but is does go a long, long way and you would only need to apply once every six months or so. You would need to check compatibility with your vinyl first though.

Detailing World probably has some tips, I know you are on there too.

TBH although I love that grey above, I think keep it yellow but dark anthracite wheels, drop, plus black grille surround, black mirrors and black rear spoiler. That would look lovely.

02p etc.

£300 if you DIY ;)

The more I look at this, the more i think with my CK's in anthracite, no stripe down the side and the grill/mirrors in black .....could be a winner
