Bargain vRS...are they really worth this little?

Featured Replies

TBH it's done the best part of 130k and although it says 'massive spec' it seems to only have cruise control and a bolero - although xenon lights are advertised I can't see any headlight washers (although I'm on my phone too so might not be able to see them)

It has 17" wheels which is a bit odd as it must be a late 56 to have rear electrics and dual zone climate.

Seeing as boleros go for about £150 and cruise isn't exactly a premium option I doubt I'd have been interested at any higher than the price it got.......

Still seems really cheap! You pay more than that for an older Fabia vRS. The curse of a 2.0 petrol engine!

I would. Too good to sell for that much!

Thanks mate. Yes it's true i mean i was selling to buy house but for amount it sold for it makes more financial sense to keep for a bit longer and save more money.

Plus it hasn't given me any major issues apart from the usual expected wear and tears.

Just out of interest, the winning bidder, will he not have recourse to pursue you for the car (unless it was you :giggle: ahh that old chestnut). Don't get me wrong, I'd keep it if I was you too, seems too good to go at that price :whew:

I only got £3200 part ex for same model and year, in black with 85k miles. Paintwork has a few scratches though, so not mint by any means. Also has a fsh, and parking sensors.

Hey,

bargain works in cars, is it right?

When I was selling mine with 60k on it back in June (same except no bolero) I had a brief discussion with someone on here who was interested, but they had seen a fully loaded model with the same mileage for 5k (albeit that must have been a cheap one as I got that trade for mine in the end). At the time the cheapest I could see on auto trader was up for 6k and that had 100k+ on the clock.

Shortly after that some well specced low mileage models struggled to get offers on the for sale board here - even priced around 5,500 to 6000 which was a little surprising but proved that the bottom had fallen out the market (for the pre FL petrol VRS at least). This despite there not being that many up for sale.....

Perhaps Donovan can clear one thing up though (to satisfy my idle curiosity) and that is DOES the car have factory xenons, or is it a HID kit, or what? ;)

Prices on used tfsi are really low. They seemed to have hit a massive slump over the last 12 months. Even diesel models are starting to drop a fair bit. Maybe its just the economy catching up and affecting used prices rather than it being the fuel type.

They're not worth much but some dealers seem to think they'll get a lot for them judging by the forecourt prices.

The market for biggish petrol cars has shrunk by a lot. £250 a year tax doesn't help nor does the higher insurance group.

A few dealers I spoke to a year or so ago were honest enough to tell me they were giving a crap trade in figure because they just didn't want my car. They thought it would sit on the forecourt for too long.

Article yesterday in the papers saying used car prices were dropping. That obviously hits residuals too.

Looks like im keeping my 2008 vrs for the next 10 years then as its value has dropped lots since i bought it just over 2 years ago, other than the £245 a year tax,i have no other issues with the car so im happy to keep it.

The problem I have is that I now owe more than the car is worth! I'm really shocked how quickly they've dropped in value!

I paid for mine outright but its still lost half what a paid for it 2 odd years ago so i would be in the same position as you if i was still paying for it,such a shame as there a really good car.

And I'm keeping it now

You have somebody asking if this is still for sale on your for sale thread.

Dont worry so do i lol, hence just keeping it, making it a bit better handling wise and power, also keep ontop of the maintenance which i think the previous owner severely lacked.

That's pretty normal if you're buying nearly new without a really big deposit. You'll catch up but it might take a while.

Hid kit in the projectors. Yes resale values are bad however I have exactly listed it in the best time of year. Suppose Christmas affected final price. Car had 110 watchers but not one person asked to come view car. I also put a few buyer restrictions in place to stop time wasters as they couldn't bid if they had loads of negative feedback or not less than 10 ect. ...

I can hear your tail pipes screaming "clean me, please, clean me!"...

Lol already done. I took those pictures then realised i hadn't cleaned tail pipes
