Best sounding car

Featured Replies

I am a bit partial to a car that sounds like a proper car be it exhaust/engine,whatever.Not tweaked.Just as it came out of the box.

A screaming type R is no good.Nor is a vRS oct or fab.

I have cut it down to three that do it for me,which I will whittle down to one!

TVR,Range Rover,Subaru Impreza. (I know there are so many to choose from)

At the end of the day....TVR :orb_devil wow.Doesn't matter what age or model, all sound great

I slow down and put my window down every single time one goes by.Fantastic.Bet they sound even better in a tunnel

Well done TVR.Music to my ears :D

The alfa romeo v6 (mid-nineties) is awesome sounding - music to your ears!

My old Fiat Punto..................... just after the centre exhaust section sheared almost in half.....

It sounded like a proper beast :ukliam:

Audi quattro; throaty, off-beat 5-cylinder burble :)

I'd have to agree with that

I agree on TVR's sounding good - I always wind down the window to listen.

Any V10 Ferrari or a Diablo will get my vote though.

Impreza's all sound like someone's strapped a megaphone to their butt and then eaten beans, it's just like a massively amplified fart, repeated over and over again.......

"FART-FART-FART-FART"

Never heard one that sounds good anyway.

Hmmm, TVR.........

My preference there is a Chimera 4.0 from circa '92.....only because I used to come across the same one everyday into work. Windows down, stereo off and just dream as it burbled and woofled it's way past me.....

Failing that, VW Toureg V10 TDI......."what do you mean, it's a diesel?!!!?"

golf r32, ferrari 355, or an 80's porsche 911 all spring to mind

Porsche flat 6

Ferrari V12

Lambo V12

M3 & CSL

TVR V8

Agree with TVR

also Ferrari 360CS and the honda S2000 sounds surprisingly nice :)

My Volvo was very nice with a 5 pot barble. I think the M3 CSL is gorgeous. My dads got a boxer 6 with 'sports exhaust' and it is quite nice, but i do preffer the ferrari.

The best is my mates old 1989 Range Rover with a 4x2 branch + full stinless janspped 'zorst' that sounds imense !!!!

Why wont someone agree with me? :(

There's a porsche garage just up the road from us and as it's a quiet country road we usually get them "playing" as they go past.

They had one of the GT3 supercars and that sounded superb.

Other than that I'm very partial to a V-twin sportsbike on full chat :D

:wave23d:

I agree, alfa romeo engines sound very raspy and then quite high pitched when revved...nicee.

Think Clarkson said it was the best sounding engine of all time on one of his videos?

Chris

ive had a thing about the sound a 1992 cavalier SRi makes above 3500rpm :D

:D I saw a repeat of that on some obscure sky channel a while ago. Clarkson looked so funny, he had a huge afro haircut and some dodgy aviator sunglasses

Were these the repeats of the last series of Top Gear?

Rob.

At a guess i would say it was early 90's. He probably would still have an afro now but his hair fell out. :P

my brothers k reg escort the other week after the exhaust fell off now that was nice ;)

the tvr's are nice, went round the factory a few years back,

but theres nothing like hearing them (the elite them) start up that mclaren f1, the show escapes me now but used to go to a lot of car shows and that was nice, the vibration through the ground was great. I reckon the old late 60s early 70s ferrari's must sound nice 365 something like that or an origonal cobra, just raw power no nonsence

All his videos are available on your local friendly P2P server, should you wish to revisit them ;) Still love the Evo vs STi vs M3 Roadster vs Alfa one

I think both Porsche 928s and MGBs sound rather good - but I might be accused of sounding biased. A 928 flyby on full chat is an awesome noise, nobody could fail to be impressed! :D

Corsa 1.2 with massive exhaust and fake dump valve.

or at a push....

Ferrari F40

I've always liked the sound of an AMG V8, like a spitfire going in for the kill.

The Aston Martin DB9 sounds awesome as well.

Hate the sound of F1 V10's, they sound like mosquitos buzzing round your ear.

Liked the sound of the Ascari on Monday going round Donington :D

TVR's sound lovelly as does the Monaro VXR thingy :)

I like the sound of an Italian twin motorcycle too ;)
