Best sounding car

This is the greatest sounding engine of all time:

It's a BRM V16 F1 car. 1,500cc, and it wails like a banshee. Nothing has ever sounded as good as this car.

And to think Rover insulted this awesome machine with the orange-mouthed shopping car. They almost deserved to go bust.

Still, no-one has guessed the sound of a 6.1 litre BMW V12!

Anything with a V8 is alright by me.............The McClaren SLR sounds awesome!

VW's VR6 motor is another great sounding motor.......

Porka Flat6, the aircooled variety.........

Ducati V-Twins have to get my vote for the best sounding bike motor!

My favourites :

Porsche Carrera RSR

Cizeta Moroder V16T

Opel Kadett C-Coupe

(with double "Weber" carburators

and Group A Race Exhaust)

MBT Leopard 2

*All worth googeling for a pic* :D

mclaren mercedes SLR

TVR

Old beetle's also sound super cool!

my favourite has to be the sound of the 5 cylinder group b audi quattro but 5 cylinders in volvos sound good too, flat six lumps in 80s 911s sound good as well as most v6 lumps with induction kits but it has to be said that a v8 in any form sounds awesome especially the porsche 928s in the film weird science when it takes off sideways from the mall :D

To me, nothing beats the sound of a Jaguar straight-six!

For me.. My bosses 87 911 Turbo LS at full throttle is absolutely amazing from the inside.

I also love the sound of the E39 M5.

Hmm, anything sounds better than my 1.3 Felicia. Actually, no my car is way better than any chav crap.

One of my prized possessions is the book "BRM" by Raymond Mays - an inspiring, but at the same time soul-destroying read. Still, their glory days did eventually arrive.

I believe the orange mouthed shopping car is actually quite quick - at least someone had the happy idea of remembering BRM - most people who drive Rover 200s would have never heard of them.

Think it was around 160bhp from memory? But I'm sure they could have tried a bit harder than a car based on the 200 though, hardly the best of starts to be honest!

Steve

NASCAR Nextel Cup car.

Shelby Cobra

ZZ Top's car :D

Can't beat a V8.

Best 4 cylinder is a Scoob. No contest.

The DaveU fleet has a Rover BRM in it - owned from new in '99. It's actually great fun and a great little car. Had some very mild mods done (adjustable Koni's, Janspeed exhaust, K&N etc) and is like a little go-cart to drive - really great fun. ...and yes we have heard of BRM ;) There is a stunning V16 BRM at Beaulieu IIRC

Well one assumes that those bright enough to buy the Rover BRM have heard of them, just not the shoppers. Another of my acquaintances owns one and also says it's a great little car.

rs200, rs1800, metro 6r4 actually amost anything blatting through a forest :D

427 cobra, tvr speed 12 etc etc
