So, with my new turbo I am also replacing the exhaust system. I will be getting a new downpipe from Darkside which I think it 2.5" at the end, not 100% (just checked, its 3" :D). I have a choice of replicating my current old thing, with landrover silencer :D in a new form (with hopefully better ground clearance....) or go for a traditional straight pipe to the back, with a hidden turn down tail....

I'm still not sure. I like having a side exit, but need a silencer to cut down volume - a pipe to the back will not need a silencer at all..... Hmmmm. Help?

Current system (the WHOLE thing from turbo to tail :D)

New downpipe coming (just the bit at the top obviously....)

I have seen a side exit exhaust on a Golf MK ii, all it did was turn the back wheel black! It looked good when clean but could you be bothered cleaning your wheel every week?

I will have a stainless Jetex system twin tailpipe off a MK iii golf if that will fit your Fabtastic?

Yep - I will agree - my offside rear will thank me for going back to traditional routing....

I voted tradional I like the idea of a hidden turned down pipe.

Spill what turbo u getting

And what's harping with ur old one he he ;)

Im lookin for how to mount a gtb turbo onto a manifold without breaking my bank

This looks good, not too much but subtle and once you have put some soot through them it will dull down the bling factor .

I have smoothed off my vRS "tail" for more sneakiness ;) so if I go traditional there will be no tailpipe at all visible.

You have to have tailpipes or it looks like a renault megane, sorry for the insult.

he only thing left for it is a traditional back box off a golf as the two tail pipes point down at the floor, or something similar. I have a hole saw if you need it :bandit:

I agree, you need a tailpipe :) failing that it doesn't really matter, but traditional gets another vote!

NO tailpipe. :p If I go that way I will just be running a pipe in the same bore as the downpipe end, over the rear beam, then a slight turndown behind the bumper lip. :)

on the plus side of NO tailpipe, when I am trying to catch you at Castle Combe your black smoke will hit the floor and I will be able to see where I am going.

Whatever you decide will sound be an issue for track days?

2.75" + entire exhaust will take as much noise out as a small 8" silencer (I think....)

It might sound like this

Out the floor, out the side, should be able to see me anyway :D

Seems like traditional is winning,... Hmmmm

To be fair though Jase, your hidden tailpipe is of minor concern when you have stickers plastered all over the front! I vote for a traditional rear pipe - straight through, naturally.

Have to say that one of the features I like about the rear of the fabia is the exhaust cut out in the bumper, looks chunky. B)

I like side exit :D its something unique.

What about exit from the front? Lol

Downturn rear gets my vote - I'm all for the stealth!

On the turbo front - Its go the be the GTB*number here*VKR or whatever they have just been testing with! BOOST!

Not sure if it makes any difference with the setup your running but my exhaust is a pipe from the turbo back and it's really loud.

Deffo needs a silencer in there I would say.
