How many Fabia mk1 boys have the H&R RARB?

Featured Replies

So...who has one on their mk1?

The bars seem to be only attainable through AKS as the part number listed is just for the bar no fitting kit.

Think I'll get one to match my front whiteline arb.

Anyone got one fitted up on their mk1 yet?

Didn't know they existed

I thought they only did the front anti roll bar, unless its new out.

There was a GB, they do do a rear one too now...but as said the fitting kit isnt included. Im sure you could source some 25mm arb bushes and mikalor clamps or something.

Why is the fitting kit not included? That's rather stupid isn't it.

I have it! It comes with all the necessary bits to fit the bar.. clamps, bolts, and bushes.

However, when fitting to my car, the bar was an inch too long.. so we used a spanish windlass.

You need to wrap the rope around both ends and make sure the loop is secured with a decent knot. Then get a short strong metal bar to place in the rope and twist it. The tighter the rope gets, the shorter the bar will get as the rope will pull it in. This is quite a difficult technique and will require two people to fit. Make sure you do not let the bar go as it will cause some serious damage to you if it hits you.

As for the actual bar.. it makes a HUGE difference! Really sorts out the cars handling. Just beware of increased rear tyre wear due to the extra pressure from the bar.

If the fitting of this bar concerns you then go with the trusty Jabbasport RARB, much much easier to fit!

A heavy duty ratchet strap would probably do the trick.

I know AKS include a fitting kit but the actual part number doesn't include the kit maybe they're putting the fitting kit together themselves, think ill give it a shot :)

Why choose a kit which doesn't fit properly when the Jabba or Whiteline fit perfectly? (I've used both)

I've also used whiteline and jabba, hopefully the HR is stiffer to complement my up rated front arb.

Ah! Its stiffer again? Bloomin' 'eck - I thought the Jabba bar was stiff! :D

I thought the jabbasport one was the stiffest around. It's solid!

the jabba is 23mm thick i believe and the H&R is 25mm thick.. although I couldn't vouch for what a difference this makes as only used H&R but i imagine its so small..

This thread is useless without any pics. :wonder:

Learn something new everyday :) thanks,

re 23-25mm, think whiteline arb and jabber are only a few mm's too and some say there is a significant difference. Though theres not enough people with both rarbs to conclusively say either or.

Basically he tied a rope on the 'hook' of the arb (where the bolt goes), twisted the rope with a metal rod, this applies tension on rope, but more importantly bends the arb from straight to kinked (so its shorter).

You are correct, I should of taken pictures whilst I was fitting it but I was just carried away with getting it done.. Ratchet Straps are another good way to do it.

I just made do with what I had

I mean pics of the RARB mate, I know how he fitted it, but pics of the fitting and the item make a thread!

So the only way to get this to fit is to bend it taking out all its strength in the first place, why not make it abit shorther lol.

Technically by bending it you are adding more pressure to the bar so when you fit it, it is effectively having a better impact. And I believe it is originally manufactured for the Fabia Mk2 which has a rear axle length about 1cm longer than the mk1.

how is bending it making it have more impact, if you had a straight piece of metal and pushed on each end it would be alot stronger than a piece of metal that was bent.

it's not being bent though. it's being put under tension, like a spring

we used a spanish windlass.

The good old Spanish windlass, used this a good few times to get out of bother at work. (shhhh don't tell the safety man) hahaha

Good to hear you're making good use of it ;) It is a very very useful technique/method, just make sure you use very strong nylon boat rope when applying significant pressure.

Ah I correct myself.. It is not "bending" it as such as it doesn't set in its bent position. It is more "flexing" the bar which applies more pressure as the bar is pushing outwards back to its original shape, therefore adding force just like a spring does. I took my bar off and it returned perfectly to its original shape even after being on the car for a little while, and there was an incredible amount of pressure in the bar when I took it off an unwound the spanish windlass.
