  • When the yeti arrives I will be polishing til there is no paint left probably Poor Juke has been neglected for best part of three years and now is getting some pampering before trade in. I'm saying

  • You're not alone with that thought. I seem to neglect the roof as it means getting something out to stand on, to clean / wax it properly.   I have a mate who "details" cars occasionally, and he spen

  • I must take you up on a couple of points here: 1. Magifoam is pH neutral, so isnt going to strip of your wax 2. There is no such thing as a touchless wash...Always follow up the snow foam with a rin

She was a sad old bag and unfit for driving in the real world-I'm at an age where I can see my own future in the decrepit and incompetent!

You should see the oldies that still drive up here...in their nineties and can barely see/hear.

Its the only way they can really get around up here with the lack of decent public transport, (bless them).

I park as far away as possible and hope for the best

Found a tiny stone chip on Snowy already :(

I did see a stone hit the windscreen the other day but it didn't do any damage. However it must have bounced off the bonnet and its left a wee chip.

I've just ordered touch-up paint so will sort it as soon as it arrives.

Otherwise he's looking nice and shiny with the protect & shine now applied.

You need a bonnet bra :D

(I'll leave now before the wave of outraged anti bonnet bra posts)

Sadly not everybody takes care when parking or respects other people's vehicles, or controls their children when they open the back doors, I always had the child locks on on my cars when the kids were younger.

In my last car I had a dent in the back where the refuse collectors had flung the wheely bin against it after emptying!

As my Yeti is less than a week old currently paranoid about getting it marked!!!

No I've seen those and they are ugly.

Snowy is not wearing a bra.....end of.

:giggle:

Snowy is currently covered in snowfoam for his weekly wash. I'm sure this will eventually become a monthly wash when the novelty wears off.

I now have touch up paint to correct the tiny stone chips on his bonnet, which I also hope to do today while its dry outside.

When in france if you come across an Aixam/Ligier(bit like postman pat cars)_ avoid em, as normally driven by people with no licence, lost thro' drink, age, lack of sight etc - its a quaint french practice to allow peeps to continue with mobility, as rural public transport is almost non existant!

Blanche collected her first dent on my way to France four weeks ago: stopped off at Ashford Tesco on the way to Eurotunnel and when I returned to Blanche some thoughtless so-and-so had clearly hit the nearside passenger door with a trolley. Paint not broken and T-Cut will take out the dirty mark, but a slight dent about 1x0.5 cm in size (and only about 2mm deep at the midpoint). Nothing much, I know, and debatable whether it's worth the cost of fixing, but annoying none the less.

What a pain, sorry to hear that. I think you'll probably get it sorted I most likely would do.

Yes, I probably will. Think about it when I've dealt with the mountain of post-holiday snail mail, email, etc.!

Heat the area of the dent up with a hairdryer. Once warm spray some compressed gas like you can use to blow your computer keyboards etc free of dust etc.

It may pop the dent back out....and for a few pounds its worth a go. Apparently metal has a tendency to return to its original form if shock treated in this way. I have tried it and whist it's not miraculous it does improve things quite a bit.

You can also get a small suction dent  puller from ebay .... again does work http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-Dent-Puller-Bodywork-Panel-Remover-Removal-Tool-Car-Van-Suction-Cup-Glass-/251316294574?pt=UK_Body_Shop_Supplies_Paint&hash=item3a839e53ae

If you are feeling a bit more ambitious there is a dent puller where you glue a pad to the affected area and pull the dent out.....now this does workhttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-DENT-REPAIR-KIT-BODYWORK-PANEL-DENT-REMOVER-REMOVAL-TOOL-DENT-PULLER-CAR-VAN-/310720345997?pt=UK_Hand_Tools_Equipment&hash=item485860378d

Sorry its happened.... I really get annoyed by people doing this sort of careless damage to my car......I do try to park at least 10 miles from any other movable object..... but some times it is not possible!

Nigel

Many thanks for this. I've decided to try the 'more ambitious' approach - worth it for only £9, I think!

Hope it works, let us know how you get on.

You are right on a Yeti. Look at my profile pic, they suit camper vans very well.

  • 2 weeks later...

I snowfoamed Snowy this morning. I had visitors last weekend so he was a bit neglected with some spiders taking up residence in the wing mirrors etc.

Looking nice and clean now, and no new blemishes or stone chips. Decals are looking well too, standing up to the pressure washer, tar etc so far without any marks.

My decals have arrived and will hopefully get fitted next week. Thanks again for your detailed guide in fitting them Marie. :)

Wing mirror spiders are fitted at the factory.

I snow foamed the inside of the yeti today. Forgot the sunroof was open. :-(

  • 1 month later...

Snowy is getting a snowfoam wash today and new layer of Sonax spray applied, ready for his holiday to Edinburgh airport next weekend.

A glorious day up here again today  :sun:

It's raining here :rain:

I found a stone chip on rear wheel arch  :(

I've applied a couple of coats of touch up paint, so it should be ok.

It will be ok if it's covered and sealed
