Full Winter Wheel Package

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Due to moving house & needing to cut down on the amount of stuff I have (all going into long term storage) I am selling my Winter Wheels. Only selling due to going form a 3 bed house into a 1 bed flat for 6 months and I am desperately over loaded with stuff! :( [i'd hang on to them but I am selling the car in the summer]

They are 16” VW Sharan Wheels with 205/55R16 Conti Winter Contact 3 tyres. They fit my Octavia vRS fine with the use of a 3mm spacer on the front to clear the brakes - other octys wouldn't need the spacer IIRC. I am not 100% sure what the stud spec but I think it is 5 x 112 with a 45mm offset. I can double check if required though - for alternative vehicles.

One tyre had a puncture repair about 2 years ago, though all hold pressure very well. There is at least 4-5mm tred on each tyre, and I have used them for 2 & half Winters, so by my reckoning you’d prob get 2 seasons more out of them. They could do with an extra layer of Hammerite on them, but they are every much function over form.

They worked *fantastically* well the last few winters, especially when we had 5" of snow/slush/rubbish here last weeks, I made it up 3 considerable hills twice a day without *any* drama at all. Dead impressed with them, and I am genuinely unhappy to see them go but the van & storage is booked for this weekend.

Available to be collected/delivered/meet from Staines/Crawley/Leicester/High Wycombe/Peterborough/Banbury (flat/old house/family/work/daughter/family) - £250 [dropped from £290] :)

edit: ill try and get a close up of the tred later on today!

Cheeky offer as im quite broke ! I have £200 and could collect from Crawley.

Cheers

Jason

Hi mate,

if you could meet me in the middle at £250 I'd be willing to go ahead! With collection next weekend? Lowest i'm willing to go for the time being I'm afraid, utterly cracking tyres and have done me so proud last couple of winters.. :)

bump, open to offers! :)

The link to the picture of the wheels doesn't seem to work...

The tyre ones do.

Could we see the actual wheels and condition, please?

Apologies for the original dropbox link, no idea why it fell over! It's back up now to give you an idea of the style of wheel.

I will get some close up pic of the wheels tomorrow.

If its any proof of their condition, they hadn't dropped a psi in 4 weeks since Christmas and ran true as anything prior to removal... this only emphasised by a a second trip (and additional £20) to the garage to get my summer wheels re-balanced due to a nasty vibration at speed, all after I paid £20 to get them fitted! :(

I have attached some close ups of the wheels.

They are in 'fair' aesthetic condition but by no means were treated as well as my summer set (aesthetically wise anyway). They have always treated as 'function over form' due to the winter conditions & knowing they would spend 100% of their lives filthy.

They worked perfectly, and that's all I wanted form them! :)

edit; the marks/areas of discoloration is just where I lifted them out of the car this morning and smudged the layer of dust/muck off of them. They are all evenly black surface finished. Due to living in a flat currently, I have no way of washing them without lugging buckets of water down the stairs.

Bump.

Any reasonable offers? :)

Up again, will go into storage at the weekend! :)

Facelift Mk2 vRS here, so presumably I would need the spacers too? What's the deal with that - is it something thats included and I dont need to worry about, or is it an extra cost thing I have to source.

I'm guessing its just a metal place that goes between the wheel and the car (so still straight forward to fit)

Apologies for naivity! :)

Sods law, these wheels went into the deepest corner of the storage locker all my stuff is now in, as a result they are no longer for sale for the next 3-4 months! if you are still interested then (when I hopefully move into a new place) I am happy to PM you? If not I will put them on ebay towards the end of the year.

Yes, a 3mm spacer is required for the fronts. It pushes the wheels out to avoid clipping the brakes. I had a hub centric one but I have already passed them on to a friend. You can get 3mm spacers from halfords etc for £10-ish but they arn't as good as a hub centric ones. I did run the wheels for two seasons with a standard 3mm spacer before swapping to a hub centric spacer. :)

  • 6 months later...

I'm interested if you've dug these out of the corner of your garage!
