New tyres needed- Uniroyal Rainsport 2- Thoughts

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for 4 new tyres on the Fabia, looking around at local firms and found Uniroyal Rainsport 2 for £70 per corner all in on 205/45R16.

Firstly does anybody have experience with these tyres and what are they like- also does £70 per corner sound like a good deal?

Thanks in advanced

Brilliant tyres amazing grip in the wet conditions Id used them again when my new wheels need tyres

are you familar with the term 'sticks like **** to a blanket'? I've taken bends and roundabouts at speeds I wouldn't with my old Conti Premium contacts

Go on camskill.

Got two of these last week for £62 each. Total £130 inc P&P.

Great tyres and at £70 a corner great value. You can't go wrong. I've used them and liked them a lot.

Only problem i found was in dry conditions and going for it on a track day was poor steering feel and a the tread blocks chewed up really bad due to the deep tread blocks that moved around a lot. The fun cup racers use these as a control tyre but I think they shave the tyre to reduce tread depth for better handling.

59.40 a tyre on camskill at the mo. delivery is 2.99 per tyre.

if i needed tyres it would be these i buy

I wouldn't hesitate to buy these ever again!

sorry to jump in....but don't they wear pretty quick?

no, at least that's not been my experience with them. As with any tyre, it depends how you drive. Quick starts, cornering, roundabouts and harsh braking aren't friends of tyres. Also, they have a deeper tread with to begin, 9mm IIRC rather than 7mm. They can be noiser, but I'd get another set.

I wouldn't say they wear fast!

I even Run them on my AstraVan :)

I like them, I'm onto my second pair now.

Is your quote including fitting? If it does it's an excellent price. I paid £131 plus fitting (£25) for the pair last October.

Got a link for that? Shows £62 on mine.

Unless you are looking at 195's maybe?

Further to the my post above^

The 195's are £53.50.

This pic probably explains why they are so good in the wet and why I like them so much. :yes:

Nearly 9 mm of tread. :D New tyres normally come with about 7.5 to 8mm.

I have them on my Fabia vRS and will fit the same tyre again when they are due for replacement.

Heard nothing but good comments about these.

Go for them.

Ah the speed rating is different.

Yep, You can also buy these which are 'W' rated: http://www.camskill....:_2_Noise:_71dB

V = 149 mph max

W = 168 mph max.

Both are still more than the max speed of the car (130). At the moment I am running 'H' rated (130 max) winters.

How are they regarding fuel consumption ?

Rated F, which I imagine is towards the bottom of the scale.

Mine are the 83W's.

I've got four of these ready to fit on a newly refurbed set of wheels, about £62 each from Camskill W rated.

Yep, all my summer tyres have been 'W' rated. I have a feeling that's what Skoda recommend.
