Green Stuff Pads

Featured Replies

Hopefully someone will be able to point me in the direction of some cheap Rear Pads for my Octavia MKII VRS.

Its not a request for advice or opinions etc. If i wanted better stopping power over OEM i would go Mintex or Ferrodo etc.

This is purely to stop black brake dust on the alloys and longevity. I Have used all those mentioned and Green Stuff seam the best for mitigating stained alloys. Best price i can find is £43 for rears. i have 1-2mm left on my current pads MOT passed but he said he should have failed them really and best to get changed pronto so i need them pretty quickly. I did a search but didn't help much so if anyone could suggest a place to get them cheap then i would be very gratefull.

I got some yellow stuff pads from Larkspeed, they are reasonable, here is a LINK to the page you need to choose what specific pads you need.

ive just had all my pads replaced with these. They are TRW who make oem pads, literaly fitted today so can't comment on them yet but seem good for the cash

You tried Eurocarparts? i got a set of Pagid rears and used Brisk25 for a discount.

Yeah i can already get 30% discount with eurocarparts (secret code) but if you read my OP i only want green stuff i currently have pagid fitted i have had many brands over the years and only green stuff i have encountered that don't stain your alloys thats the overiding factor for consideration. Yellow stuff are too track orientated and not great from cold in my experience good for fade but not initial bite from cold. Tried Larkspeed already but they are more money unless you know of a voucher code etc. Dont want TRW either. Just green stuff please guys!!!

Ah ok sorry mate, teach me to read it all lmao.

only one so far is brakes4u.co.uk and 15% off s060104j

No probs, im open to suggestions but they must rival greenstuff for low dust output. Im fed up of cleaning alloys and dont do trackdays anymore.

I always used ADL Blueprint when i had Toyota`s, hardly any brake dust. I think they now make them for Vag group cars. Have a look on Ebay

Ok thanks will look into them

Good performance from the green stuff, but not for me. They dont last very long due to softer compound. Yellow or even red are gonna be better value.<br /><br />Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2<br /><br /><br />

Greenstuff are only meant for cars upto 1200kgs - Redstuff will do fine on yours (and they'll match your calipers!), and still come with a low dust formula. (Not for track use as I found out, Yellows however are brill).

redstuff are the lowest dusting pad from ebc http://www.ebcbrakes...rake_pads.shtml they are rated as low dust where as green stuff are rated as medium, http://www.ebcbrakes...pads_2000.shtml

i have them all round and they create very little dust, they are an improvement over oe pads, get better as they get warm.

good for fast road use but not really for fast fast road use if you get what im saying.

Thanks for the imput will look at redstuff then. Had greenstuff wit hthe clios and they were great but its a good point about the weight i didn't consider that.

Just ordered some RedStuff for the rears seams like they have changed the formula since last i used them and only cost £42 so will give them ago Pagid on the fronts only changed recently so will replace with redstuff once they worn out if the rears show no signs of alloys staining. Thanks all for input.

how long have you had the pads on mate? i need new front pads and i am undecided between the Mintex m1144, Tarox and redstuff.

ill have to get back to you on that one, ill try and see if i can find when i fitted them

I fitted Mintex pads years ago and still the best stopping pads i have ever used on standard caliper disc config. They were a little better than oem for dust build up but not as good as the ebc. Never tried tarox though i think these were popular with Jap models.

Actually these are being fitted to my Pre FL VRS so the calipers are green so green stuff would have been a better match but im going for dust reduction more than looks plus stopping is obvioulsy important.

Sorry for the delay ive had the fronts fitted since april 2011 and the rears about six months later, ive probably done about 20k they are wearing well still plenty of life in them yet!

I'm glad somebody has resurected this thread as my EBC red stuff rear pads arrived yesterday. Any advice on fitting them.

I unfortunatly don't have access to a pit or a ramp. So looks like ill be on my back under the car i have a decent trolly

jack though and a good socket set and extended reach wrench and torque wrench. So should manage ok is it

just a case of getting the wheel off getting the caliper off wind pack the piston refit the new pads and reverse assembly

do i need to put copper slip anywhere on the sliders etc? or just on the back of the alloy to aid seperation next time the

wheel comes off. Any links to a guide would be good. I have changed brakes before i have even done a big brake conversion

draining fluid fitting braided hoses etc but its that long ago its a distant memory.

If its the rear pads then yeh remove wheel, loosen rear caliper bolts whip out old pads, the caliper needs to be screwed if you like back in not pushed in i have a link below as a guide for you mate.

Yeah i have a caliper wind back tool from work used to push the piston back on old clios with the handle of a mallet. But they all need winding back these days. Trouble is i think you can knacker the Rubber boot that covers the piston if not carefull but thanks for the guide.
