Brakes

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently replaced my brake fluid (DOT4) using an easibleed system, the brakes felt better to start with.

Since the cold weather set in the brakes don't feel the same, mainly when braking the pedal goes hard and if you want to slower quicker you need to apply a lot of pressure. I don't remember it being like this prior to the change. Is it because it is DOT 4 as I have read it gets thicker in colder weather?

Also if I brake hard the ABS doesn't kick in, when replacing the brake fluid is there something that needs done for the ABS to continue working?

Could be a stuck brake piston or the brake servo at a guess.

Test the servo by sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine not running. Pump the brake pedal several times to remove any vacuum in the servo, then put your foot hard on the brake pedal & start the engine. If your servo is working you should feel the brake pedal being pulled down.
