Seems the ugly DSG gearlever is for both 1,2 and TDI!

Yuck. Found this on the French Yeti forum...

That new right hand DSG lever clearly says 4x4 on it...... :'(

What type of Skoda is the left-hand lever on? I've never noticed "Yeti-style" climate controls in anything other than a Yeti (not that I've looked in particular!).

That "DSG 4x4" lever is horrific.

It's the new 'corporate cloning' that started with the Rapid. Believe their standardising things like badges, steering wheels gear leavers along with the overall design cues across the range :S

It's from the French forum and alas they did not use a Yeti in the "existing" picture. Mine looks exactly like that albeit mirrored for RHD.

I trust Superskoda is working night and day to make something to replace that hideous text on the new lever.

more clear?

Neu im Skoda Yeti: Der DSG-Schalthebel ist geschrumpft.

I truly hope this isn't the case as our spec is a Yeti TDI (140) 4 x 4 DSG. There's one in a local dealer's showroom at the moment with the 'old' style lever in it and this looks much more upmarket than the 'new' one in these pictures.

Useful if you are prone to forgetting what box/drive you ordered.

That's a really cheap looking thing! And very very ugly!!! Glad I'm a manual driver

Agree 100%. I have always liked the upmarket VW/Audi/Skoda DSG gearlever...but this one would maybe put me off getting an auto (tongue in cheek I know - but it does look like it was "Made in Hong Kong").

OK - I know I'm in a minority of one - but I think the older design is hideous and looks like something out of an over chromed, big finned American horror. The new one is miles better and I would swap tomorrow. Just personal taste at the end of the day I suppose.

That is the same as my one in my 2012 Yeti, so don't think it is a new design.

Mine (2012 spec.) looks this way:

I'm with yetifabia on this. We also have a Seat Ibiza Cupra with DSG but the lever is far better looking than the fat flat chromy yeti one.

This is the right hand version as shown on my earlier post. It actually does not look at cheap as everyone says, I think the photo's do it an injustice. Still has leather and lots of chrome and is much smaller feel in the hand. Not everyone likes the feel of a large knob in their hands

The left hand picture is from an Octavia - exactly the same as mine except mirrored for LHD.

Yes, but people are forgetting I have TWO gripes here. First that it looks very cheap with the way too big kindergarten letters on top and second the button had moved to the front. Your SEAT still has a side thumb operated button. That front mounted button makes NO ergonomic sense to me at all.

They should all look like this, from a Scirocco R

I can live with that, especially with the brush alloy surround.

Not that I have DSG or anything, but I'd expect all of these to be interchangeable, right?

That's very much like the one in our DSG Fabia and again, IMHO, much better than the big flat ones.

If it weren't for the ugly letters on the top I much prefer the newer one too. Perhaps that insert can be changed. To me the old one looks like an adaptation for people with grip problems (no offence intended whatsoever).

The new one is definitely from the Fisher Price school of design.

Why do we even need a whacking great lever at all? AFAIK There is no mechanical linkage - it is just a switch. So why not a simple selector stalk on the steering column?
