hi there everyone, i was wondering what do you use the full hatch mode for, 70% of the time i would say that saloon mode is required but the small boot mode fits most of my needs, when i get people who have luggage or a person in a wheelchair the hatchback mode is brill, i have always wondered why you have the option for two opening methods? the only reason i can think of is that if you have people in the back and its cold outside the saloon mode will keep the elements away from them but if you have something big hatch mode can be used? what do yo`u normally open it in.

My daughters buggy requires the use of the hatch mode almost on a daily basis, most of the other times the saloon mode works

As to why you have the option of two opening methods.......

Some countries seem to favour saloons over hatchbacks - Ireland being one 'local' example. This way, Skoda offer the best of both worlds!

Can't say I have thought about this much- if something fits in through the small boot opening I will always use that through choice as I save about a second of my valuable time.

However if it doesnt fit in through the small boot or if I need to put it at the back of the boot I will use the full hatch- simples

for instance although my daughter's cello case fits in diagonally in the boot I can't get it in unless I use the full hatch, while my viola case goes in using small boot if I am alone in the car. If shopping and have one or two carrier bags I will use small boot, if full weekly shop with multipacks of softs drinks etc then always full hatch.

I suppose if the car was made as hatch OR saloon then I would have chosen hatch, but I do like having both

My parents have the first gen Superb.

Their biggest (and only, really) gripe is the MASSIVE boot with the TINY opening...so Skoda fixed the problem!

Yep the boot is defo big, but I was going to buy a 1st gen superb in 2007 when I bought my octavia but the saloon through me off, but now I really don't see the problem with a saloon but the hatch mode is handy for big things especially when I get passengers with wheelchairs and buggies
