WelI I coIlected my vrs last night ...chuffed :-)

Thing is i drove 125 miles back home on the moterway and averaged 45.3mpg sitting at 75/80 I was expecting more ??

Also where is the best place to get an egr removal kit ?

If i remove the egr will I get any fault codes ?

Thanks again..

Averaged 45.3 on the trip computer or averaged 45.3 calculated - 2 totally different things in many cases!

Is that actual mpg or what the dash showed?

As for the EGR, I think there will be a fault code but it can be removed when you have the car remapped which is a must :)

Oh should of said..is there any must do mods ? I would search but I'm on my phone as I have broken my computer moniter :E

45 is bloody good in a petrol 1.8 turbo no? :D I get a (calculated) 48 to 50mpg in my Fabia.

Oh wait, has someone swapped their car and not changed their avatar yet? :D

At those sorts of speeds you won't get much more than that, weather conditions may affect it too.

I see a huge difference speed dependant.

Ha ;)

You'll have to to a few brim to brim calculations and compare it to the trip computer.

Almost certainly, the computer will be out by a significant amount. Mine under reads by 7% on my 1.9 PD100 fabia.

I'd expect just under 50 mpg at those speeds in my Fabia. But it's not a vRS so maybe you'd expect a bit less?

I was getting around 58 - 61 mpg at 60-70 mph today. Btw I tend to find that the computer reads about 6-7 mpg over the actual consumption.

i drove from teeside back to wales and averaged 57.5 mpg at 70mph, it did creep up a little bit, is that good for a 600+ round trip, got 535 miles and fuel light pinged with 70 miles left.

Sounds about right travelling at those speeds, drop to 70mph cruise and it'll creep up around 47-50mpg and if you can bare it driving at 60mph you'll see above 50mpg towards 60mpg.

Sd you reset the trip before you left ?

A previous owner might have got fed up with the gauge over reading, so had someone with VCDS move it down (I must knock mine back by 15% or so at some point)

Or it could just be it needed a run to get back in to the swing of things. Or you were driving it like a petrol! :p

AFAIK there is no way of doing this on a Fabia.

There is certainly no adaptation for it, maybe there is a long coding option to do it?....If so I'd love to know.

It's very easy to do on the Octavia...I've already corrected mine.

Yep, That's definitely how you do it on the Octavia.

When I tried it in the Fabia and went to channel 3 "consumption correction" I got a "cannot connect with the controller" error.

I've since been told it's not possible on the Fabia/Polo/Ibiza platform

Erm, that MPG is pretty rubbish!

Sat at 70mph on cruise control it's easy to get 65mpg. That's calculated with brim-to-brim method too.

Mine was also rubbish when I first got my vRS. Fixed the leaky boost pipes, and all is well. First port of call would be making sure that all of the connections are nice and tight.

And a new air filter too.

Will also depend what year and gearbox you have.

There was an early gearbox that would give 70mph at 1900rpm. The later one is over 2000rpm at 70mph.
