Maybe cause the dump valve circulates back into the standard airbox properly and it don't when the induction kit is fitted ?

:iagree: kind of.It's not that it doesn't recirculate properly back to the induction kit,it's just that the standard air box muffles the sound and the induction kit doesn't

It sounded really good with the induction kit on (powertec) you got a real growl on acceleration and a very loud noise from the DV when it dumped, but was told by a race engineer to put the airbox back on as it would continue to affect the air flow meter and thus the performance of the car and that i would probably have less power with the induction kit fitted. But of course now my car has gone back to sounding like a deisel:(

don't know about it affecting the air flow meter, but there are quite a few people on here running with them on and who have had no problems(i am currently saving for a carbonio myself). If you like it leave it on,also they are freer(sp?) flowing than the standard air box so should improve performance slightly not hinder it.

Induction kits fom some manufacturers have been known to kill MAF sensors especially if they are over oiled.

The only other thing with induction kits is where they suck their air from. If they are just sat in the engine bay and are just sucking in hot air this will destroy performance.

If you do get a good cold air ducted induction kit then you shouldn't have too many problems as long as the MAF stays healthy.

Just to clarify what Lee has said...over oiled filters can cause MAF problems. Whether this is acutally down to the manufacturer or reoiling after cleaning, it's not reallly known.
