Lowest mpg so far

Featured Replies

Was running late for a meeting this morning so rather than my usual sedate cruising style I used the loud pedal on my 1.6cr in anger. Forgot how well the Superb copes when driven briskly for it's size

However instead of my usual indicated 53-56 mpg for the route I managed a spectacular 36.4 mpg- ouch!

That's not far off my best ever for a full tank of 36.9mpg. Mind you, coming back from the Yorkshire Dales today I managed 40.4mpg; that's accurate, as I've adjusted my gauge via VCDS.

my 1.6 tdi (non greenline) achieved a average according to the trip yesterday of 58.2MPF! and the worst i have seen is 42.4MPG

See you got bitten by horse contamination there racing boy:

..of 58.2MPF! ..

Miles Per Furlong, eh?

Track my consumption in Fuelly - averaging about 45MPG, but this shows as around 50-52MPG on the MFD, I've had it down in the mid 30s on some extreme journies.

My TDi 170 DSG will happily average 43-45 (corrected) on a long, fast run, even when heavily loaded (two up and full boot). However more spirited driving in town with just me aboard will quickly bring it down into the mid to low 30's. The Superb is a big and heavy car and using the performance available is bound to make it much less economical for that reason.

Once you start using maximum performance on a small engined big and heavy car the situation is even worse. Fuel consumption can quickly go through the floor in such circumstances as the engine will not be operating at its most fuel efficient. In such circumstances a bigger engine will often be more economical.

66mpg (indicated) to Boston in Lincolnshire and back a couple of days ago. 400 miles round trip including lots off the motorway

I managed 41mpg with a remapped petrol VRS from Cardiff to heathrow this week. Worst I've seen is 33.

You need to find a job that's further away.

42.5mpg on a 2013 model 2.0 170 DSG Estate. About 500 miles in total to get the figure, of which 300 miles are local and in town and 200 on motorway averaging..well...70 'ish'. My alert is set for 85 mph. It's a new car, and this should also improve as the engine loosens up. I've tested it on a hand calculated fuel/mileage calculation, and the MFD readout is about spot on. Well impressed - my 2.0 Santa Fe previously gave me 32mpg.

Or somewhere where is warmer :sun:

This was my best ever in my Greenline. It was the second day of ownership. Drove from Portsmouth to Basingstoke on the motorways most of the way at running in speed. This is a fairly accurate amount as I record the MPG with my trip app and they always come out very close. I've not managed to do this again though. Averaging 58 mpg over the last 9000 miles.

However instead of my usual indicated 53-56 mpg for the route I managed a spectacular 36.4 mpg- ouch!

Im surprised at how low you managed to get your economy. I drove my old Octavia Vrs Cr DSG from just outside portsmouth to birmingham in a shade over 2 hours and thats including a fuel stop and I managed 47 on that trip!! Needless to say I was massively surprised.

Lowest ever??

You cant be trying ;) Recorded this sat in a French traffic jam
