I feel a new Yeti coming on.

Featured Replies

My 170 has done an average of 41 (brim to brim calc) over 8000 miles (in just over eight months) . Most days are just a short commute where the engine doesn't get the chance to warm up. The school run and teenage taxi service are longer, but I have no regular trips over 20 miles, so the mpg is kept low.

We've just got back from a few days in Lincoln, with the journey there at 60-65mph getting 47mpg (converted from the maxidot figure) but the trip back today sat on cruise at 70 only got 40mpg.

I had a diesel Octy before and liked the way it drove, but looking at the figures others get with the quicker warming 1.8 petrol it might have made more sense for me. On longer trips (days out, Briskoda meets, etc) it gets a more respectable 45mpg or so, but not frequently enough, unfortunately.

I agree its a bit of a drawback that once you hit 70 or more on the motorway mpg really drops off in the yeti.

Stay with the lorries at 60 and get excellent mpg, (but a bit dull for long journeys.)

  • Apologies John, I just felt that putting his text in bright red added nothing positive and that it was done to only try to highlight someone else possibly being at fault. I've read a number of things

  • Interesting read, I think you guys regard your Yeti as a pair of socks, with this I mean you are all changing them before you get the thing run in and benefit from the sweet spot between 45 and 65,000

I've averaged over 46mpg over 3 years in my CR170.

Going to have a chat at Prospect tomorrow-anyone have the Tyre pressure monitoring and any views as to it?

I have TPM. It hasn't had to work yet but (rather like the RRP) it seems a cheap piece of insurance against punctures to me (what I mean is, if you pay for it, sod's law means it will never be used - but that means you won't have had a puncture!).

I have it - it seemed an inexpensive extra and by all accounts it appears to work well, provided you have confidence that the 'setting' pressure is accurate.

I've yet to get a warning from mine

Thanks both, am I being very pathetic to not want the blank switch effect?

These modern cars are good for moon raking mileage and my car is proof of this, New in August 2011 so now about 18 months old and about to clock 70,000 miles, apart from being on the third set of tyres (13 in total because of a puncture) and servicing on long life regime I can honestly say the car drives better now than when it was new, everything is slick and bedded in, it even seems to rev more freely when pushing on.

I am not saying you shouldn't change your car as this is your prerogative, what I am saying is there must be better things to spend your money on than giving it all to Skoda.

I'm in your camp James. Dewi is just coming up to 3 years old with just under 60k on the clock and I expect to keep him for at least another 2 years.

I have until August 2014, and expect to do another 70k by then, I have a road trip coming up W/C 11th March, Manchester to Keighley, Keighley to East Kilbride, a few calls in that area, then off to Cairn Ryan, over to Belfast, four calls in and around the north, then off to Dublin for a meeting, 14th Afternoon back on the boat from Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead then a steady drive through Wales home, should add a few more miles onto the car!

This roughly where we are going,

Pah!! Thats only 700 miles!! :giggle: :giggle:

April we've got from here to St Ives, via Morwellham and Launceston, and then return, with the caravan.

About 600 miles.

Plus I do about 1600 a month commuting to work. :whew:

lol, that is only Monday to Thursday! I average about 3,888 miles a month, very good for the nectar points  I suppose the Ferry will do some of them too.

I'm coming to the view that Black will be the colour-I saw one at Prospect Letchworth with the panoramic roof and Gobi and it is sensational.

Gobi goes very well with black, as you say.

Of course you are right James, I decided 2 years ago that I wanted to drive a Yeti and was hooked. My last few cars I'd kept around the 4 year mark (barring the Cooper S- too mad for every day use). I wanted a high spec but was too impatient to wait for a factory order so bought a demo. I have a generally negative view of the facelift and the roof, the heated screen and the DAB are options which I value. So I intend to keep this one.

I've never had a high miles life style-If I did I'd probably want a bigger vehicle either my Toyota Soarer or my LS400 were capable of effortless long distances It was 565 miles to Salamanca in a day that convinced me my Leon wasn't really comfortable enough.

My life has changed -my mileage is now and is likely to remain <10k so your "sweet spot" is something for me to look forward to in 5 or 6 years time.

In effect I bought the wrong Yeti for my needs and am rectifying that.

If it matters I think you have the only yeti for your kind of mileage.

JCP, you really don't have to justify yourself to me, I understand why your swapping, I just like to get the other view across of high mileage isn't such a bad thing.

Hope you find what you are looking for, and in the right colour and with 17" or 16" and so on, not an easy task mate.

Thanks James, just done the deal on a petrol L&K and am looking forward to it! Taken some extended warranty with the intention of keeping this one.

Sounds like you will be getting a very well specked Yeti, enjoy it.

Lovely.

I suppose the next question has to be, How long do you have to wait?

I had it on my Roomster but decided not to have it on the Yeti. It once warned me of low pressure but when I checked the tyres they were OK.

Their guess is May, my guess........a piece of string?

Twice as long as when folded in half, so you'll be none the wiser then.

Testy Judge to FE Smith " I've listened to your submission for half an hour and I'm none the wiser"

Smith to Judge " No my lord, but your lordship is much better informed"
