Ooh, yeah, wonder if like the switch itself, it's all actually there, just needs one of those little block leds to be fitted in...

... mind you, I don't have the VW on/off button yet so that would be a start!!

Which one is the LED? I might try to get one from RS!

First picture in the middle of the two black buttons.

Right i have completely pulled apart a gold climatronic unit and moved an LED over to mine. Tiny buggers. It did not light up, so I assume some resistors are needed. Im not nimble fingered enough to move them. But I did move the knobs over because they had the chrome rings. They look very nice. And the fonts on the buttons were cleared on the golf unit too. Not bad for a tenner!

If you use an LED from the Golf unit, and manage to get it working, it will light up red not green!  I personally wouldn't bother, though the chrome rings from the Golf unit would look really nice.

I plugged the golf unit in and it worked just with blue lights for the lcd and orange lights for the fan speed indicator. Neither of which I like. But I think the led had caused some trouble with the pcb... now its permanent dual zone not selectable by setting them the same. Led to cone out tomorrow...

Do you any document about this procedure because all the linked file not existing
