Does VW Golf Mk.4 steering wheel fit standard Fabia Mk.1?

Featured Replies

Hello all,

Sorry to start this topic again but I'm searching BriskSkoda for half a day and still don't have my answer:

Does VW Golf Mk.4 steering wheel fit standard Fabia Mk.1?

example: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK4-GENUINE-3-SPOKE-LEATHER-STEERING-WHEEL-AND-AIRBAG-/321065590521?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ac1001ef9

I know R32 Golf fits on Fabia vRS. But my a bit modified Skoda Fabia 1.9TDI 2005 Elegance desperately needs steering wheel upgrade (old is badly worn and I don't like the standard 4 spoke wheel anyway).

Steering wheels from Golf 4 go on eBay quite cheaply and I would be very happy with one of them.

So does anybody know if it fits? Obviously including its airbag. Do I need to "reset" or do anything with car's control unit (ECU)?

Other cheap and good looking alternatives are also welcome.

Many thanks in advance.

Yes they are a straight swap. no need to do anything with ecu or wiring

Thanks for your reply.

In other words it means Octavia, any Golf 4, any Fabia Mk1 (RS, non RS), Seat Leon, Seat Ibiza, Passat are all interchangable?

If yes, you brighten my day :sun:

That is a very good point, Holmesie. But I am interested in the fitment question at this stage.

It simply surprises me that nobody on eBay indicates that these wheels are so widely interchangeable. They guarantee only direct swap for identical cars. So I am still a bit in doubt... :(

i think the reason for it is accountability they know it fits a golf as it was removed from a golf .. the bora is pretty much the same car and it may have the same part no as a passat... but if they say it fits a fabia and some one bought it and its different to the fabia wheel some people may complain and its hassle they could do without ...... not to mention the different badges

YES it will.

They are all interchangeable so long as u get the matching airbag.. same with mk1 audi tt etc..

Iv fitted a mk4 golf bora 3 spoke wheel + airbag to replace my standard fabia 4 spoke wheel + airbag.

Straight swap.. no messin (apart from getting a skoda badge ;))

UD??? its just a thought at the min but ill let you know if i decide to go for it its getting a skoda airbag or finding a way to put an oem badge on it thats putting me off atm .... the new style tt a3 a4 etc with the flat bottom and chrome would also be awsome but again the badge would bother me

Id have a new style flat bott anyday but its the $$$ for the airbags thats no good :(

I know what u mean with the badge..

U wouldnt want a skoda badge as big as the 4 rings lol..

The one u linked wasnt too bad with the ally surround.. allot of them come with black plastic surround.. even my m8s early s3 has black plastic around the audi logo n looks pants lol!

big badges seems to be the new thing lol the badges on the new vw up are the biggest thing on the car so a huge skoda badge may be the way forward lol

Do it!

Just an outline type badge tho like the Citygo badge but LARGE lol

I wrk at VW and every time i bring an Up! In i think this wheel would look awesome in the fabia :)!

There not very thick tho + only the higher spec ones come with gloss black bits.. guna try n get one under warranty lol ;)

Did this VERY quick mock up of the citygo badge on a tt wheel :D :D

a 3 spoke airbag from a skoda will fit a mk4 golf wheel.

afaik a wheel from a lamborghini gallardo will fit too!!!

So the flat bottom tt steering wheels fit?:D

Yes if u have the airbag too ;)

Obviously if it has dsg paddles/ other buttons they wont work.. but it will work as a steering wheel + airbag ;)

Trouble is, flat bottom wheel without the sport ratio steering rack will very weird as you cannot use the wheel as per the highway code and shuffle it through you hands. If you drive the way I do, its of course not a problem but you'll have to forget everything you were taught in your driving lessons.
