I had a good look over the cheapest and worst mk2 vRS for sale in the UK

Last week I had the interesting experience of going to see this heap with a colleague. He asked me along to give my opinion and scan it with my VCDS. I've never been to exotic Bradford before and there was a free lunch in it for me so I thought why not.

Firstly, the particular part of Bradford it was situated in was genuinely a bit scary. https://maps.google....ed Kingdom&z=20 doesn't really do it justice. Funilly enough, the Google streetview car hasn't been down that Beckside lane. Don't blame them.

So the car. Wow. To say this car isn't even quite 6 years old, it's staggering the state it's in. So here we go....

Missing wheel bolts.

Mouldy, wet boot.

Dents and scratches.

Water in light clusters.

Four different brands of tyre, one is a winter. All tyres pretty flat.

Rust on door.

Extremely rusty upper sills.

EGR valve seems to not be the right one for a PD170? Looks wrong and exhaust gas pipe doesn't quite mate up properly with it.

Wouldn't start, eventually started after the guy jumping it from another car, but still bizarrely only after revving the crap out of the other car for at least five minutes.

Clogged DPF, broken G450 sensor (probably broken for some time). The whole dash was lit up like a christmas tree and most modules were red in VCDS.

Poor thing just needs putting out of its misery.

  • As this thread has degenerated somewhat from its original track, I am locking this to prevent further angst. Thanks

  • Its fact. There are certain areas which are very dodgy for buying cars. bradford is one of them

I think the number plate says it all

Bradford is littered with places like that selling rubbish. To be fair though, judging by the amount of rubbish on the roads around there, there is a market for it!

Did ya but it then :-)

I looked at this a couple of weeks ago. Bag of utter s****. Told them so aswell. Told them they'ed be lucky to get scrap value for it.

On the plus side it has xenons.

That's what I thought :)

Poor car.

Hmmmm sounds nearly as good as mine

the advert says it all really.

In Bradford

No warranty (you get one by law anyway for 6 months)

Has to mention it will be cleaned

Wont accept offers

Only thing worse is if it was in Ilford lol

All says they are desperate to sell imo

ky high mileage too, that car is past it's best and will need a hell of a lot of work doing to it over the next year or so, steer well clear of it and anything else out of Bradford too! well dodgy area to be buying a used car.

What makes you make a comment like that???

One bad car dont mean every car in Bradford is rubbish

G450 and clogged DPF go together. The DPF could well be fine, its just that the car does not know how full the DPF is due to the faulty sensor. You'll not get a true estimate until the sensor is replaced and a full adaption run.

Even the ebay advert does not inspire confidence, only 2 pictures.

Those alloys haven't seen a sponge for years!

whenever I've looked at cars for sale in Bradford they have been cheaper than anywhere else and the condition reflected that, I gave up looking in that area again. BTW I'm talking back street garages not private or main dealer. garages that are like what the OP posted just seems rife with them in that area..

Second this, was looking at different cars before I got my octy, everything I saw in West Yorkshire was really poor, in the end I got my octy from Manchester lol

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

Bradford says it all !

EDIT - it IS on streetview. Here's the entrance to the "dealership"...

https://maps.google....,332.38,,0,9.67

There is a dealership right next to a huge scrap yard.

I think we all know why that car is there and it wasn't to be resold. Damp, loads of sensors under the car going nuts.... can you say flood damage?

Sounds possible flood damaged thats not been recorded

Or it could be like every other Octavia with leaky rear washer pipes!

PD170? High mileage? I'd say the DPF is almost certainly shot.

Come on let's be honest, what were you genuinely expecting to find with a car that price & with that mileage? I think the advert is pretty genuine, I certainly wouldn't have taken the time or trouble to go & look at it based on the 2 pictures & their "advert."
