Rear Interior Lights - How To - Updated

Featured Replies

Just had a thought, they might be the same connector as used in the tweeters in the rear doors and if like me you have disconnected the tweeters in the rear doors you might be able to use those - will check tomorrow.

I haven't disconnected the tweeters. I'll check some online scrappys tomorrow.

No luck with scrappys so decided to just solder onto the light units. How did you connect the x2 negatives/positives onto the light unit, soldered both to the same point or soldered one wire with a connector on the end and put the x2 together into the connector??

Like this....

This thread has finally inspired me to try and install my lights I have had for damn ages with the intention of putting in the back by the rear handles. Might now finally manage it. The only thing is this unit has three connectors coming off it, so I assume there in an earth, live and probably a switch for the door open thing too.... They have three positions the light fitting can be angled in.

Would love to find the connector / bit of loom to attach to this unit..... Might find a connector in my crimping kit to go over them.

Pot luck really, seen them in orange, green and red

Karl

Red leds are the superb unit and had green light up buttons

Green are from a passat

Orange I've never seen

The green on the passat LEDs isn't a good match to the fabia instruments though. The superb unit is best but as said, its not black so needs spraying up

Just trying to do this mod now. Can the wire be fed through the centre of the roof (front to back) or does it need to go down the channel above the doors and across??

Edit: I've managed to get the wire through but thinking about just running x2 wires from the front to the back and then splitting those x2 wires off onto the rear lights. Hopefully that will work. :)

Sorry to hijack your thread Karl but here's mine finally installed:
