Yes, GSS340 is the right one for our housings.

I have noticed that with raised fuel pressure fuel starvation sometimes happen when cornering but that was when I have used thinner sleeve. I think I have solve it with thicker sleeve now but I didn`t tested it very long.

  • Hi Folks a update on my issues   I decided to remove the solder and re crimp the extended wires. This had no effect and i still got low down hesitation   So I think perhaps the hesitation is not

  • how is your boost gauge connected?

Some of this makes sense.. years ago (2004ish) i was at a tuners and they were troubleshooting an issue with the same symptoms as above on the RR.. that turned out to be the in-tank fuel pump.. even the new OE one they put in was not up to the job at 4bar

I'm really stumped now

Injectors FPR, filter, fuel rail swapped, tank checked for crap.

I've reset the trims so need to give it a chance to settle,

Still the same, a little better maybe, but then it usually is after a filter swap !!! I notice the STFT is going bananas lately, up in the 20's a lot, but still not showing a code.

The power just doesn't come on tap like it used to, boost goes up but it lacks it's old aggression

Well somethings happened .

It's definitely running better after swapping a few more parts.

It's still not 100% but its pulling harder than it was, it still seems a little bogged down when holding steady and the injectors are still flat out on WOT.

After replacing the injectors I've noticed it's harder to start now, I need to hold the key longer than before and my LTFT is currently sitting -5.5% which indicates an air leak now !!!

I suddenly realised last night that when I did the injectors I didn't grease the seals before putting them in, wondering if there a slight leak there now which is causing the above problems.

You could have put a slight nic in 1 of the seals as there a pretty tight fit.

Sooooo

I think I'm onto something, bypassed the N249 and guess what ......

It's flying !!!

Well I say that, I've done no logs or have no gauge connected so I'm not quite ready to party naked !!!

So what next I ask. The valve itself or the pipe work ???

On the flipside it's still not starting great so I pulled the fuel rail out and one of the injectors was dripping as it came out, so I assume it's leaking and flooding the engine a little.

They have been cleaned and tested though so thats puzzling.

Oh well got four more too play with.

Sounds like progress. Pull the N249 out, and its pipes :)

I'd rather leave it there Rob, I don't like the noise the DV makes now lol

I didn't notice any difference to DV sound after removing mine. Though I have a Carbonio intake which makes the DV fairly loud anyway.

I can post you the bits I pulled out :D

I'm just compiling a text to my TPS man for the morning lol

What you got and how much would it cost me. If you're serious of course

Any chance you can get me a photo of it laid out, as I've never got as far as flipping over the plate.

Thinking about it I've done the VCDS output test a few times and the valve sounds like it's moving but not exactly sure what it should sound like.

It's probably cheaper to post than buying it all and it's doing f-all on the shelf in my garage :)

This is from when I pulled it out. I'd have to dig around a bit to find everything.

Well, bugger. New fuel pump is in, same issue.

My car had the problem of it closing the throttle and going mega rich but it was at 5500 rpm it would do it when it was under the most load.

Was that with standard TIP? As that's what TIP collapse looked like on mine before increasing he air box inlet.

Was that with standard TIP? As that's what TIP collapse looked like on mine before increasing he air box inlet.

It started doing it the day I removed the standard TIP and fitted the Forge one, after a week I removed the Forge TIP and refitted the standard one, and it still did it.

Did you ever get to the bottom of it? Have you improved the air intake to the air box or fitted a CAI?

Yeh I fixed it in the end.

I bought a new LCR fuel pump, which didn't change anything on it's own, but then I fitted a 4bar fpr and the issue went away (I had already tried the same 4bar fpr with the old 3bar pump and a borrowed LCR pump, and it didn't cure it).

So I then bought a set of new LCR injectors, and fitted them (refitted the 3bar reg), and everything has been great since (had the car remapped again after).

What a wallet and ball ache.

Dunno what else you could try rob.

If its any consellation mine is still not spot on so its not just you mate.

Yeh and I fixed mine so well, it blew a hole in the gearbox lol

Okay next development. I put the stock injectors back on and old stage 2 map, and the throttle cutting issue seems to have gone. It's still not running right but that particular issue is gone. Interesting.

AFR gauge reads a constant lean but that uses narrowband and isn't that great so I need to hook up VAGCOM again.

Will try tomorrow when fully cold.

Progress!!

From cold with stage 2 map, stock injectors and 3 BAR FPR it ran horribly, lean and making loud bangs!

I swapped to 4 BAR FPR and it was better but still lean.

So I put the stock MAF housing back in (2.5" instead of 3") and it's now running properly.

This makes sense of course as the stage 2 map expects a 2.5" MAF so the air flow it read with a 3" one would have been miles out - more air coming in than it though = lean running.

So the problems are down to the new map not being right for the 3" MAF and TT injectors.

It feels very quick now :D

Waiting for a response from Shark. This is where it gets difficult, tweaking the map properly with the distance and time difference.

Yeh and I fixed mine so well, it blew a hole in the gearbox lol

Mine ate itself after a particularly hard pot hole hit! Replaced with S3 o2m box so hopeful that wont happen again.

I'm sticking with the 02J, but have a wavetrac on the way for it, which will hopefully stop it happening again :D

Glad your getting it sorted rob.

In other news mine drank about a litre of water yesterday with no apparent leak. Fine today though??

I'm just waiting for it to go bang now to be honest.

Looking for another silver one quietly !!!
