Fitting Bluetooth Quadlock behind the head unit on VRS

Featured Replies

I've got a OEM Bluetooth kit for my VRS - managed to fit everything OK and managed to get the car coded to enable Bluetooth - but cant fit the head unit back in. There is no space for the Quad Lock connector behind the bolero system. Struggled with it for a couple of hours and finally gave not wanting to break anything. The connector is big - I cant push it through gap near the Climate Control unit or near the Glove box.

All the guides don't really mention this as a problem.

Any ideas on how to fit these things ? Maybe need to remove the glove box and pull the connectors through?

-Thanks

Hi there i have also just retro-fitted bluetooth,, if you remove the top box where the hazzard light swich is you can move the quadlock over to the left where there is space beside the glovebox.. hope this helps..

Wow - That was quick - Thanks! So is that just using a trim removal tool to prise out Aircon Vent \ Hazard switch panel ?

Indeed. The way I did mine. Be careful of the hazard light button. Almost broke it when trying to get it out (the lugs on it aren't required to be undone you just need to pop it out). Its a bit of an swine to put back though

That's exactly what I did too. It's easier once its been taken out the first time. Just be careful you don't pull the temp sensors out, they are connected to the same loom as the hazard switch and just twist fit near each air vent and easily detach. If you do dislodge them they are easily put back in with a twist, some suggest a dab of silicon to hold in place.

yep did the same removed top tray then pushed the quadlock towards the glovebox.

hi there new Octy owner here. Where can i get this quadlock BT kit you speak of. I ahve a columbus unit in my car.

Much help appreciated

Drop Eddie-NL a message he may have one...

Can you stream music to a Bolero using this bluetooth or phone only?

Hi,

I bought my kit which incldued pretty much everything from Carsystems.pl (http://www.carsystems.pl/vw-bluetooth-kit-7p6035730l-retrofit-newest-version,id417.html)

I fitted the unit myself thanks to (very) helpful members of Briskoda. There are several guides available if you do a quick search.

Few quirks that I found - maybe to do with compatibility of versions

- Most MFSW controls works - phone button doesnt work

- Phonebook shows garbled strings on Bolero but looks OK on the maxi-dot

Northlodge - Streaming music works fine - I use my 3g connection to play internet radio through bolero \ bluetooth. But while playing other music (local stored mp3's) it doesn't show track info.

Hope that helps - I'll post the list of guides which helped me install ( not finished yet - opened this post to know how to fit the quadlock in :) ) sometime this weekend

I've got this module connected to my bolero. Streams music via Bluetooth fine. Only qualm is since changing to a nexus 4 from an iPhone 4 I no longer get track info on the bolero from spotify.

IMT - What version do you have ? I've got the 7P6035730L -

Do the next\previous track buttons work on MFSW ? They dont work for me while playing mp3 of my phone (HTC 8x ) -

Ok thanks gents, ref streaming.

Have just got a Bolero this week and need to see Eddie about the upgraded Canbus first. As am fitting it to my 05 Mk2 Octy, i don't have steering wheel controls or Maxidot in mine, but like the idea of streaming from iphone. Have a 3.5 jack at present in phone on a brodit mount.

Cheers

Mines a 7p6035730j and bolero is 1z0035156f

I don't have a mfsw so not sure if that has anything to do with the variances. I can use the stalk (I have maxidot) to skip tracks

Fiscon is good, but expensive

Fiscon is silly priced though.

Does anyone have a Idea if (and how) I can enable Steering wheel phone \ track skipping buttons to work with Bluetooth ?

Only ones which work are Maxi dot control buttons -

As said, simply connect the quadlock on the outside of the plastic radio cage. This leaves enough room at the back to allow the radio unit to fit back into its rightful place. Much easier if you do this from the top via where the dash top box sits.

I'll piggy back on this thread if I may

Mike,

I did a dry run this AM & i'm going down the passenger side (at the moment) have you gone this way & if so I found the glove box a rather large hinderance. The only thing keeping it there was the airbag wiring - but it was hanging around like a bad hangover! Do you know I can simply unplug the airbag connector, do my business, then reconnect & put the box back in situ?

I was slightly annoyed this morning to find out my T15 star screw driver was not compatible with my upper Bolero H//U screws only the bottom ones. seemed my Stanley tool box needs a full length driver & not one of these small socket type kits - damn shame otherwise I may have completed it this morning.

I have a pic if this helps?

Regards

You can unplug the switch, but then if i remember correct, I had to take the switch out of the box to get the wire back in.

I also made the mistake of turning on the ign whilst the switch was disconnected and the warning light came on. I had to get that reset at the dealer

I believe if you disconnect the battery the warning light should not be an issue

I did mine drivers side found it fairly easy<br />Disconnected the battery whilst doing it and had no airbag faults. Dash lit up like a Xmas tree first time I turned back on but all lights cleared and only errors where due to incorrect coding for the BT

If you make SURE the ignition is on, there is no problem about disconnecting the airbag cut off switch wiring. To reconnect it you will find it easier to remove the switch from the glovebox, reconnect it then replace the switch.

Mike

Mike, just checking you'd not got a typo - the ign should be ON to disconnect the switch? I did it with the ign OFF, but then turned it ON while it was disconneted and got and error.....

You're probably right, but that seems counter intuitive.....

As a final note (I hope), Is it easier to install from the drivers side or the passenger side? I'm not fussed where it goes but the path of least pain is my preffered route, even if it takes a little bit longer to get there.
