They were two of the cars i looked at buying, along with the Focus C-Max, Focus, Seat Ibiza (though can't be used as an example in this thread) and a Honda Civic. Was impressed with the standard equipment on the vRS compared to the C-Max which for a Ghia 2.0 Diesel didn't have traction control as standard, which is quite poor in my eyes.

Made the better choice i think, (though never got round to test driving any of the others after i test drove the vRS twice and the C-Max once).

In the same price bracket as my Octy vRS - depends on whether I was being sensible or not.

The sensible choice would have been a Ford Mondeo TDCi, the non-sensible choice would have been a Porsche 944 Turbo.

If money was no object - only one possible choice: Porsche 911 Turbo

I think sadly i would have gone for the new 3 series just to try it out, failing that I think some big 4x4 thing, which one don't matter LOL

also looking at a volvo V40 T4, vectra 3.2 V6, signum 3.2v6 at the moment but the octavia Vrs has everything I want

It's Bentley and the Cosworth name is yep. Hence why I didn't put RS200 , even an RS 500 would be nice.

It must have done 50 mpg , 0-60 in around 11 seconds or better , be no smaller than a furby estate , no bigger than my octy , and cost no more than 14k two years ago with a spec that includes alloys , electric windows and aircon. It must also be reasonably reliable which meant a choice of Furby or Octy for me. I can't remember anything else that I would have wanted.

If I was buying a new car today it would have to have the same requirements as above with cruise control and a sunroof , be a bit faster than my octy and cost 17k tops. I'd quite possibly end up with a 407
