Cruise Control Challenge

Featured Replies

Hello!

Recently a tooth broke off the diff and binned the gearbox

Took it to my local independent (DS Motors) who are really good, used them for years and had no issues.

They fitted a replacement gearbox and diff.

Great you say... but now my cruise control does not work on top gear (5th). Works in all other gears fine.

There are no fault codes showing.

The only difference is that the gear ratios are subtly different...

Top is much longer giving around 95mph at 3000rpm!

4th is about the same as the original 5th gear was and the other three ratios are the same.

My findings are based on what I believe the original ratios were as:

Gear Ratio

1st 3.300

2nd 1.944

3rd 1.308

4th 1.034

5th 0.838

Final Drive 3.647

Anyone got any ideas what the issue could be?

Cheers

No idea, what box was fitted, I will see what I can find out....

Sounds like a 5 speed diesel box off a 100 or something if 3k is 95 mph.

Sounds loke a sensor not right somewhere might be thinking its in neutral so wont activate.
