vRS common problems / things to look out for?

Featured Replies

After selling my Mk1 vRS late last year after 4 years good motoring and finding out all the Mk1 foibles I'm thinking of now purchasing a Mk2, can't find a buying guide pinned (lazily I haven't done a search yet)

What are the common things to look out for/ fail?

DMF/fuel injectors (some diesel models)/abs sensors/intake manifold flaps/cold starting issues on some diesels (possible link to injector change). Check engine cover is secure as clips break. Sticky egr valves, dpf's can cause problems.

Only for people who drive with elbow on door card not on the arm rest part designed. :p Im sure you couldn't pass a driving test with arm resting up there so Skoda is just being responsible making it easily bubbily!

It's no excuse really,it's bad design/quality, at least they addressed this in the Octavia lll. It's bad if u can't rest ur elbow on ur door which lots of people do in most cars.

I'm a vehicle tester and at least 70% we see are bubbled.

Thank you, very helpful thread Fubar.

I must update my profile as both vRS gone now, I didn't realise the later models were called II facelift (and not mkIII) had the diesel estate for almost a year, bloody good car, sad to see it go but had a change in circumstances and we couldn't justify a nearly new anymore. Still not as fun as petrol version.

So wasn't sure on problems of a 6/7 year old used one. Am partial to race blue!

At 6ft 3ins my elbow only rests on that bit. I would be leaning sideways to put it on my arm rest. My Volvo T5 had a little dent where my elbow touched but that took 120K to establish. LOL

Right you pair of fuss pots, only jabbing at the whole 'should be holding wheel properly' thing. But you two are just no fun. I do laugh at the near impossibility to buy a single drivers side door card in the UK as a result though hahahaha. In a suit etc I have would be proven to have long arms and I am 6ft1 but find the window ledge type bit which bubbles on folk uncomfortable, I do tend to not bother though and just hold the wheel saying that. Other pain in the hole with this is that the texture of plastic when someone is wearing a T-shirt etc is the cheese grater effect leaving a patch of dry skin on the door. Mk1 Fabia was exactly the same :@ .

Pre-FL

Cambelt changes

ESP light off/on (Teves Mk60 problem)

Wonky alloys (on the special ed)

Rusty sills

Wearing inner edges on rear tyres#

Blocked rear washer jets / water in spare wheel well

Extras - should have 18" alloys, jumbo box, dual climate and rear e/w

All were free for a long time.

Interesting about the extras... mine has all the above but not the Jumbo box. It's quite annoying not having that to be honest
