Where's the chrome window surround gone?!

Featured Replies

The price of the octavia is getting beyond the joke. Now they want to charge for some Crome strips that should be on the car anyway. Not looking good for skoda for me being a return customer.

Hi Yeti_Man, Just had a look in the Hungarian configurator and found it listed as extra equipment (code: 4ZG). Costs 96 pounds converted. Cheers Zed

Why should they be on the car? D Segment cars get them more often but the external design has to be held back somehow compared to the (even more costly!) Golf and A3. I'm just pleased they are available as an option. With the new Octy, Skoda have secured me as a future customer without doubt. That'll be number four then! :)

£150 for steering wheel controls, boo!

My order went in on the 8th March, don't suppose it can be changed now.

What has the golf and the A3 got to do with the price of cheese. All the photos skoda released showed the cars with the chrome with no mention of it being an extra. If I do order another skoda, it will have to have some serious discount.

Can't say I agree with that thinking tbh ie cars on the ads and press shots nearly always have metallic paint but they don't tell you it's an extra. You don't generally see base version with no added options on the pre launch blurb.

Should be no problem to add these to your order at this point.

Read the small print at the bottom of the page, it's lists the extras on the page inc met paint.

Can't see any writing at all on any of the press shots posted on here. Point is, some are just happy it's available, albeit as an option. Some think it should be a standard feature. :)

Sorry should have made it clear i was talking about the adverts in the magazines that I have read, not the the press shots on here.

Pictures of a Race Blue Elegance in the What Car review show a uk registered car with chrome!

Popped into dealer yesterday, was told they have looked into the chrome surrounds, & read this thread, & their answer is that they are not available to order on UK spec cars at present!!

I wonder where What Car got their UK registered car from then!

All options available in Ireland :) my parents just bought a new one with Crome , picking it up next week.

My first Superb II 'S' came with a chrome window surround as standard, however, three years later and it is now an optional extra.

Personally, I like the contrast of chrome against bodywork, whether it be Rosso Brunello or Steel Grey.

I'm thinking a Corrida Red Octy III hatchback/estate might be my next company car in 2.5 years time. I loved my Corrida Red Octy II with Sirius 16" alloys and often wonder what became of that car. When it was changed at 115,000 miles and 4 years old it ran extremely well and would have been a good car for whoever bought it.

Why should they be on the car?

Because they are shown in the brochure?

On the basis that the more of us that speak up, the more chance we have of getting a result, I decided to e-mail my dealer today to query the chrome and the reversible boot floor. I got a note back to say they had forwarded on to SUK, will keep you posted! :wonder:

NEWS FLASH!!

Chrome trim is not standard spec but is now available to order from the end of this week as an option from SUK at a price of £125+VAT. The code is “4ZG – Chrome Plated Mouldings”.

Unfortunately, the reversible boot floor is currently not available at this time as there are issues with the supplier. :(

Hi Matt you managed far better than me in getting the boot floor information, all I got was a reply from some numpty who read the brochure and came to the wrong conclusion that the reversible boot floor and the rubber boot liner were one and the same, despite me pointing out that that the pictures differed?

What's the reversible boot floor thing? Is that the mat that has carpet one side and rubber on t'other?

Yes dodgy that exactly what it is only it appears to be too clever for them to produce! Funny but I thought the Rapid could be specced with it !

Oliver is very efficient, I just sent him an e-mail and he forwarded it to SUK and they responded pretty quickly, no luck with chrome being added as standard spec but at least it can be added as it seems to be a very personal choice, some love it, some hate it, a bit like marmite! :giggle: Shame about the boot floor but will probably be an easy retrofit if not too expensive once it becomes available :'(

Front Assist, originally touted as standard on SE & Elegance from May onwards, then June onwards, isn't mentioned in the equipment lists on the website. Adaptive Cruise Control should have been available as an option at that point but not sign of it on the options list. Bummer, both really good features in my view.

Bit of a faf ordering them, as they still didn't appear in ordering options, Following a phone call to Retailer/dealer support, & my order number being forwarded to them,

they have been added to my car, £125+ vat, £150 inc vat. Would have liked them to have been include in Elegance spec, but they are an optional extra.

My car is build week 19, (10th May) so should get it end of May!!

All the marketing pictures display cars with lowered suspension,, Xenons, tyre shine and a driver also - none of that is standard equipment..

Anyway, in Sweden the ads of cars always have a disclaimer "car on the photo may have special equipment". I think its common sense not to trust brochure images. However if the car configurator on the website also displays chrome without saying it's an extra, its a different story :)
