I think asking him about stone chip resistance just after he's had it done is a bit stupid, don't you?

My car has been wrapped just over a year (Matt black on a silver car) and there are one or two chips on the front bumper. It is to be expected. The paint underneath where the vinyl has chipped is mint though, so it protects the paint at least. It depends on the contract of the paint - vinyl in how obvious they are. With my car being silver they show up quite badly, but nothing unsightly.

At first we look too closely and critisise, the real thing is never as good as our imagination but after awhile it grows on us . I think this car looks the dogs and will certainly turn some heads.! Nice job.

It was a general question aimed at anyone who can answer. There are others that have commented on here that have had wraps done, and apart from that just because he's only just had it done doesn't mean he doesn't know the answer. So no, not stupid at all.

I'm no expert, although I should be really as my wife is the telesales manager at one of the Uk's largest viynal suppliers!!

I believe that the clear 'stone chip protection' film that just goes on over the top to protect the paint is different to this stuff. Basically tougher and less easy to stretch and mold. It tends to be pre-cut panels I think, so it's easier to fit. The colour change wrap is much more stretchable and mold-able, but is not as thick as a result. It should offer some protection against stone chips, it's an extra barrier between the stone and the paint after all. but i don't think it's as good as the dedicated clear stuff.

I'll let you know how I get on, but if it get's too stone chipped I'll just get the front bumper re-done ;)

I like it Martin. How does it work with the door shuts then. Open door and see a bit of yellow at the moment??

It is relatively rare to see a pearl type finish and I think that it looks good on an Octavia.

Is this declarable to dvla and insurance?

Is this declarable to dvla and insurance?

Insurance when I had mine wrapped I did, but dvla no as it's only classed as temporary colour change, I however did notify them, as if you drive past a anpr and it comes up black Fabia like my old one was and it's white, your gonna get pulled lol

This looks awesome, what next K04?

Yep, shuts are currently yellow. Probably going to have this sorted over the next few weeks though, along with the grill surround ;)

Thanks!

No, have had my 'at risk' letter already, so expect to given 3 months notice on around 9th/10th April. It's all good, will need a newer, more economical car though (I'll go back to a Diesel) so this will be sold - Maybe as it is, maybe completely back to standard. Just depends if I can get as reasonable price for it 'as is'.
