I have been Shark'd

Featured Replies

did you get the dsg box mapped as well?

thought they only liked 350nm through it.

DSG starts to self-limit torque (by requesting engine to reduce fuelling) somewhere between 380 and 400Nm depending on oil temperature and other unknown factors. It will usually allow spikes of torque through and then start to limit. The torque is, as far as I can tell, not actually measured. It is instead calculated based on MAF, fuelling and other factors by the ECU. This calculated torque is easily visible by watching the measuring blocks in VCDS and there is a specific measuring block that shows "Torque Limit" in Nm as an offset (ie. in negative numbers such as -20Nm). This is the request that is sent from the transmission to the ECU.

I have no idea how the DSG box works or what torque it can cope with, but I am confident that Ben at Shark Performance does

I have toy'd with the idea of lowering my Superbs ... I've had more than a few over the years ... but given that I use the car for Airport Transfers I am really concerned about losing the comfort, its not too nice on rural roads as it is.

Any opinions?... Just springs or coil overs?

BurialConstant, out of curiosity what performance gain did you get from the 1.8 TSI and have you noticed any fuel economy changes? Cheers.

210, not much fuel economy perhaps 1 MPG, it's the torque you feel the most.

what power and torque figures did u get on your 140pd on a shark map and did u get better fuel economy

180, as standard the Superb was very slow of the mark, remap changed it to more like a petrol engine! economy improved by 2-3 MPG. I am a big fan of remaps now, just get a "normal" remap and you should be OK.

I lowered my Superb by 30 (springs) and to be honest that's the max I would want to go, the ride was a bit firm but still OK, my advice would be 20 - 30, I have only ground the rear on one occasion over a speed bump with four adults and a boot full of shopping!

Coil overs might be good but they'd need to be high spec to avoid reducing comfort. I'll be interested to hear if you go this direction.
