I have been Shark'd

Featured Replies

:rofl:I have been Shark'd  ; I spent Wednesday afternoon with Rob from W8 and Ben from Shark ... Great to meet you both.

Very interesting to see the process from start to finish.

What can I say; first impression on the drive home was 'F   K you' ... an immense increase in power.

When I'm not 'playing' fuel consumption is slightly better....but I'm still playing :giggle:

The car is nicer to drive now, the DSG is way smoother and I get to a 'nice' speed much quicker than before.

Shark / W8 get my vote; it wasn't just about the money with Rob & Ben, they had a hectic day but still had time to talk me through what was going on ....THANK YOU

what power has it gained after the remap. what figures did you get

It didn't go on RR but Ben suggested it would be around 203BHP / 400Nm ... so don't know for a fact what the figures are but i have no reason to question Ben

thats quite a nice gain, have you noticed any difference in fuel economy

It has got more  factor now.

Fuel consumption is slightly improved when I'm not "playing' (52 ish MPG) but its early days yet .... when the novelty wears off I expect fuel consumption to get even better on a run

How old is your car, Zak0511 ?

Good luck with the warranty I've waited till she's three. Damo

Damo, its not a problem if you have an 'understanding' dealer ... at the end of the day they want the warranty work. Terry

Is that your service number by any chance?

Well that's a username you would never forget if it is. Have to write the damn thing on every bit of paperwork you get.

Oh I know that! I did so for 40 years!

But the dealer doesn`t pay the damages, the manufacturer does. I believe that that importer/manufacturer wants specific details every time that something is fixed under warranty ?

Yep if you have an understanding dealer hold on with both hands my experience is if they can find a reason not to carry out the work they will grab that with both hands. If you must know its the street numbers of the houses I have owned.

Damo

No, its not a `must know`. I was just curious, that's all. It has the right configuration. No offence intended.

Does it really matter whether its in warranty or not. It was the OP's choice to remap.

Personally, I've remapped a number of cars while in warranty - some mild, some quite aggressive and never had an issue.

Cheers

Steve

did you get the dsg box mapped as well?

thought they only liked 350nm through it.

and the leading question, how much? :)

will be doing this with dpf removal at some point

The dealer has to justify warranty claims to Skoda. If they can't, then no repair unless they cover the costs themselves. You must have a very close relationship with your dealer!

Best in mind the VM, and the supplier of the failed parts are both interested in minimising such repair costs which is why most dealers don't encourage mods.

Jesus

It's like saying "I'm just walking across the road to buy a newspaper" and then having ten people tell you that "walking across the road is dangerous" talk about stating the obvious.

Obviously the OP is happy to remap his Superb whilst still in warranty. Why do people then feel the need to point out that it may invalidate the warranty??? It's not illegal, or dangerous, so why the compulsion???

I asked the same question when I bought mine. I had a very different dealer response, therefore anyone searching for some advice wants to make an informed decision . That's why. It's not as simple as the op claims for many other buyers.

Yes, remap or any modification whilst in warranty comes at a risk, but choose your mod carefully and you would be very unlikely to have an issue.

I have gone for a mild map from a well known dealer who has spent a great deal of time on his product to produce a map that is 'safe' on my vehicle.

If I left my car a a tuners and asked them to wring every last bit of power out of it then I WOULD be asking for problems.

At the end of the day, if we went through life not taking any risks then we wouldn't get out of bed in the mornings.

Im Happy :hi:

Did 70k on a Shark remap (Superb PD140), never looked back, never missed a beat, remapped my 18TSi with Shark and that has also been brilliant!

BurialConstant, out of curiosity what performance gain did you get from the 1.8 TSI and have you noticed any fuel economy changes? Cheers.
